We have a great opportunity at HMP High Down to join the education team as our Local Education Manager on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37 hours a week.
As Education Manager you will be responsible and accountable for the day to day running, management and co-ordination of the service within an establishment, working directly with the prison Governor and education lead. Drive excellence in teaching and learning by co-ordinating effective quality assurance.
You will be responsible for strategic, cohesive and sequential working with other services, providers and organisations working within the prison.

About HMP High Down
HMP High Down is a category C training and resettlement prison on the outskirts of Banstead near Sutton in Surrey. It was built in 1992 and has evolved significantly over the years. The prison's capacity is 1,100. The prison quickly and safely responds to the needs of the custodial population within the Croydon and Guildford area.
What we need from you
To be successful in the role of Education Manager you will be required to:
- Manage and coordinate education within the prison, working closely with the prison governor and leadership team to support.
- Ensure that the quality of delivery is maintained, with accountability for driving excellence in teaching and learning (for example by ensuring self-assessment reporting, leading on establishment quality strategy, leading on learner voice forums) including membership of the establishment's Quality Improvement Group (QIG).
- Responsible for ensuring strategic, cohesive, and sequential working with other services, providers and organisations working within the prison.
- Deliver contract within budget for resourcing, accreditation, and consumables.
- Leading on the delivery of the curriculum within the prison.
- Manage any inspections including OFSTED.
- Work closely with the Contract Lot Manager to respond to change and to tailor needs to the specific prison, to support within the agreed contract parameters and governance framework.
- Managing the resources (following allocation from the Contract Lot Manager) as defined within the Delivery Plan, liaising with the Contract Lot Manager.
- Develop a CPD plan for the establishment in conjunction with the Contract Lot Manager.
- Lead and manage the team within the site, with direct responsibility for the Hub Managers and administrative colleagues.
- Shared responsibility with the Contract Lot Manager for the allocated budget for the site, c£1M - £4.5M.
Essential Qualifications required:
- Degree or equivalent
- Teaching qualification - minimum Cert Ed or PGCE
Desirable
- Leadership and management qualification at Level 4 or above
