About the Role:

The Specialty Alignment Lead, will provide support to the Specialty UW pillar (covering Financial Risks, Cyber and Aviation) to ensure business objectives and initiatives are met, whilst driving consistency and product excellence across LM Re.

This will include:

• Coordination of UW activities across global locations,

• Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) and Regional Management Councils (RMC) - providing support with meeting outputs,

• Producing innovative and high-quality recommendations to support UW growth and remediation initiatives supported by detailed research, analytics, and processes,

• Supporting the implementation of strategies to achieve business plans - with a strong focus on LM Re 2.0 Strategic Priorities,

• Strategic direction of global operating model of the business - operating processes that enables the department to generate plan targets, whilst meeting internal and external regulatory requirements,

• Governance and compliance - oversee the implementation and monitoring of reporting requirements relating to UW,

• Support of contact for the Specialty UW pillar for underwriting and non-underwriting matters for both internal and external stakeholders for both partnered divisions and wider pillar (as required).

About the Department and Team:

Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re) is one of four core pillars (North America, LII, LM Re and Global Surety) that make up the Global Risk Solutions (GRS), business unit. LM Re is situated in all core global market hubs and offers treaty property, casualty and specialty products across key North America, South America, European, UK, Middle East, Asia Pacific, and other international locations.

We provide brokers and cedants with a broad product range through both the Company and Lloyd's markets and have approximately 200 employees in 13 offices around the world.

This role will service the needs of LM Re Head of UW Alignment, and LM Re Head of Business Alignment & Strategic Delivery (BASD) in specific projects and will have dual reporting line. Both Heads are responsible for supporting the implementation, execution and monitoring of business strategies relating to the Specialty UW pillar.

Both teams operate cross functionally, requiring strong collaboration and communication across several departments which form an integrated business unit.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

• Supporting the implementation of UW strategies to achieve business plans for the UW pillar.

• Ensuring that all UW support activities undertaken in the team are aligned to achievement of revenue, profit plans and strategies.

• Understand the relevant UW business metrics which may include operational data, metrics, competitor information, and feedback from business partners and provide analysis to drive improvements in the UW pillar.

• Contribute as and when required to the product and business planning, supported by detailed research and analytics.

• Produce innovative and high-quality recommendations to support UW growth and remediation initiatives.

• Contribute to and participate in relevant meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge, and best practice.

Reporting and Delivery

• Support of product leadership and UW teams, manage and coordinate product specific initiatives.

• In collaboration with UW teams and supply functions, assist in identifying and implementing best practice across product, regions, and functions in support of becoming a more connected, global professional business.

• Ensuring the provision of accurate and timely data (including regular, standardised and ad-hoc reports) appropriate for the needs of the Pillar Heads, CUO, Head of UW Alignment, and Head of BASD.

• Support the Pillar Heads, CUO, Head of UW Alignment, and Head of BASD with preparation of key internal exhibits such as QBRs and RMCs (preparation of content, meeting notes, actions follow up).

• Preparation of key exhibits for UW pillar communication to senior management and/or external clients, including analysis of outputs to ensure that it is complete and accurate.

• Oversee implementation and monitoring of governance reporting requirements relating to UW.

• Help coordinate internal audit reviews ensuring any recommendations or actions are implemented.

Leadership and Relationships

• Managing relationships - to be the main point of contact for the Specialty UW pillar for underwriting and non-underwriting matters for both internal and external stakeholders for both partnered divisions and wider pillar (as required).

• Escalate issues where required, work with relevant parties to resolve. Proactive in keeping relevant parties informed of significant or challenging issues.

• Partner with global teams/ functions to ensure projects are delivered effectively and help drive the change management strategy.

Policy, Process and Procedures

• Compliance with all applicable internal and external laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidance.

• Adhere to underwriting standards, instructions, and best practice methodology in order to minimise risk.

• Adherence to all relevant regulatory requirements forms part of your role, and the demonstration of behaviours as set out in the Conduct Risk Policy, as they relate to your role, is core to LM Re's commitment to our Liberty Values, placing customers at the centre of our business and behaving with integrity. Skills and Experience:

• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple initiatives.

• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners and foster a culture of effective working relationships.

• Demonstrable experience of getting best results collaboratively with internal/ external stakeholders and the ability to create an environment that brings the best in people as part of a broader global team.

• The ability to embrace and drive change initiatives with a strong background in delivering business change success.

• Ability to work independently to meet team goals, and to work as a member of a high performing team to accomplish goals.

• Technical expertise, (re)insurance knowledge of business area principles, practices, procedures, and ability to apply judgment.

• Good appreciation of the commercial impacts of change to product line.

• Advanced Microsoft Office systems skills, especially in Excel and PowerPoint.

• Fluency in English language. Additional languages, such as French, German and/or Spanish, a benefit - but not essential.
