JOB PURPOSE
BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force (RSAF) aircraft and train RSAF and Royal Saudi Naval Force personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

This role is responsible to the Typhoon Operations Manager for the smooth delivery of the Life Support function at Taif. Ensuring that the teams of technicians employed on 3rd & 10th squadrons and the HMSS bay based at Taif carry out fault diagnosis and rectification activities associated with the scheduled and unscheduled servicing of all Typhoon Life Support Equipment. To design and manage the training and development of RSAF counterparts. Responsible for the inventory control to ensure that any deficiencies are capture to not affect the flying program. Responsible for the management and integration of any new Life Support related capabilities.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Job Holder is accountable for the following:
- Manage the delivery of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of Typhoon Life Support equipment across three bays ensuring that all work is carried out in accordance with approved technical data and procedures.
- Responsible for the management of all supply demands for AEA equipment, liaising with the Supply department as required.
- SME for all Life Support issues, liaising with internal and external Key Stakeholders on all resourcing issues that affect operational performance.
- Formulate, manage and ensure the training delivered within the Life Support functions is compliant with RSAF/ PC prescribed training packages.
- Production of weekly and monthly training performance reports for key stakeholders.
- Raising and management of Technical Queries relating to Life Support AEA.
- Advising on technical Life Support issues and overseeing First Time Compliance of new capability technical processes.
- Promote the Saudisation process through OJT and consolidation training of assigned RSAF technicians.
- Attend meetings to brief key stakeholders of any relevant information pertaining to the performance of the Life Support Shops at Taif.
- Quality Assurance of the approved maintenance data pertaining to Life Support and follow up reporting of any queries
- Support the company SHE policy through best practice within the work centre.
- Carry out Bi-annual performance appraisals for all technicians and supervisors within Life Support.

RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Must be educated to HNC level or recognised equivalent or have experience supported by formal, recorded workplace applied related training.
- Must have previous experience of leading multiple Life Support Functions, preferably on a busy military operational flying unit.
- Must have completed a recognised engineering apprenticeship or similar qualification in military Life Support equipment branch. (Typhoon Preferable)
- Extensive proven experience in a Life Support supervisory / management role within a modern military fast jet aircraft environment. – RAF or RSAF. (Typhoon Preferable)
- In depth knowledge and experience of Life Support maintenance activities and the ability to drive and lead Life Support teams to successful completion of all tasks.
- A thorough understanding of RAF and/or RSAF engineering procedures.
- Extensive proven experience in delivering counterpart training, controlling all elements inclusive of training course design, training delivery and performance reporting.
- An understanding of the procurement and supply processes for AEA equipment.
- Experience of liaising with multiple agencies and possessing the ability to bring logistic and supply problems to a successful conclusion.
Desirable
- Considerable aerospace and defence company/industry knowledge.
- Experience within an aerospace mechanical or ground mechanical trade.
RECRUITMENT
The post holder should have the following background:
- Ex-military with experience serving on a high tempo operational military flying unit.
- Must have attained extensive experience at supervisory / management levels, working in a military aircraft maintenance environment.
- Thorough working knowledge of aircraft Life Support equipment. (Typhoon Preferable)
- Experience of working in the aviation industry in a Gulf Coast Country preferred.
- The ability to act upon their own initiative within the scope of their job is imperative.
- A conscientious approach to work and meticulous attention to detail is also required.
- A track record of meeting strict deadlines without compromising standards and quality.
- Previous experience of conducting On-The-Job training.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
