Overview:
The structured credit markets (securitization, derivatives and covered bonds) in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) continue to evolve amid a backdrop of changing and increasingly complex geopolitics, banking systems, market practices and regulation. Moody's Structured Finance EMEA ratings franchise remains a leader in this broad and relevant sector of the global credit markets, with more than 90 lead analysts and managers, backed by associated support staff, deployed to execute 250+ new ratings, monitor and scrutinize 2000+ existing ratings and publish around 400 related research articles annually.
Opportunity:
The MD, Structured Finance EMEA is a visible, senior level role in Moody's Ratings (MR) that requires leadership and vision. The mandate for the position includes the delivery of MR products and services and the management of discrete teams focused on ratings and research of Consumer Assets, Corporate Assets and Covered Bonds, spanning more than a dozen distinct asset classes, with ratings governed by more than 70 published methodologies, and staff based in London, Frankfurt, Paris, Madrid, and Milan.
Position Description:
The candidate for this position will be a proven business leader of high integrity and intellect who will manage the business to the highest professional standards, quality and ethic. The individual will contribute to the strategic positioning and development of the franchise and will be a compelling communicator and educator, both internally and externally.
As part of the Structured Finance senior leadership group, the individual will be a key contributor to and collaborator on the development and execution of the overall strategic direction, governance and success of the Structured Finance business line globally.
Primary objectives for the role include:
- Monitor current and anticipated market conditions and continually position the franchise to deliver our ratings, research and any related services on a timely basis in strict accordance with Moody's policies and procedures
- Continually strive for and drive improvement in operating efficiencies with internal constituents and counterparts in the context of MR's evolving business model
- Lead initiatives to strengthen rating and research quality, standards, depth and timeliness
- Progress Moody's structured finance credibility with issuers, investors, intermediaries, regulators and policy makers
- Attract, assess, develop, and retain a high-performing and inclusive global team of analysts and leaders needed for the future state of digitally enabled analytic functions
- Ensure a continuous improvement mindset is embedded to drive improvements in operational processes
Experience/Qualifications
- Senior market participant with exceptionally strong credit skills, and deep relationships in the investor community. Broad credit experience is essential.
- Proven track record of enhancing existing relationships and market outreach, as well as identifying opportunities in new markets. Demonstrates a resourceful, resilient, customer-oriented, and market-centric perspective.
- Committed to continuous improvement in the processes, approaches, and factors used in the rating process. Encourages innovative to build for the future.
- Demonstrated ability to identify operational efficiencies and successfully translate strategic vision into actionable goals.
- Possesses the vision and acumen to lead technology enablement across the organization.
- Proven capability to manage multi-level leadership with compassion and empathy, and effectively develop individual and team talent.
- Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to proactivity drive change and inspire confidence and motivation in others to follow.
