Job Purpose and Summary
Canon EMEA are looking for a Legal Operations Director.
The Legal Operations Director/Senior Manager leads Legal Operations with the key purpose of driving processes and efficiencies for optimal legal service delivery.
They are a Legal Leadership Team (LLT) member, supporting and driving the Legal strategy through:
Strategic Planning and Reporting - Develop and oversee Legal KPIs linked to the MTP, demonstrating the Legal team value add through strong data analytics;
Financial - optimise the Legal function financial controls;
Technology & Process Improvement - drive operational excellence through key technology implementation and process improvement projects;
Vendor Management - Oversee vendor relationships, creating a cohesive regional-wide strategy for vendors, including negotiating terms and managing contracts.
In this role you will:
Develop strategic plans and monitor legal department performance based on key objectives and data-driven metrics.
Create a data strategy to measure legal team performance and inform decision-making, including matter and workload analysis.
Identify and lead the implementation of Legal technology tools to streamline new or existing practices, as well as managing design, rollout, and training for new systems in conjunction with key stakeholders such as IT.
Develop and enforce processes and policies to manage outside counsel usage and drive value from legal spend.
Work in close collaboration with Finance to define budget and manage spend.
Liaiseith NSO (National Sales Organisations) and RSO (Regional Sales Organisations) Legal Leads to control total Legal SGA across the region.
Lead Legal Operations across the region, acting as subject matter expert for all Legal Operations topics, coaching, developing and mentoring own reports along with the wider Legal team to achieve efficiencies and improvements.

What we ask
- Demonstrable experience with legal operations and management in-house or at a law firm;
- Financial fluency with an eye for analytics
- Accomplished presentation and communication skills
- Experience in change and project management
- Strong experience in developing, implementing and using legal department technology solutions (e.g. contract lifecycle management, matter management, e-signature, e-billing) across multiple jurisdictions
- Thrives in a multi-national and multi-cultural environment
- Fluency in English
- Occasional travel required
- Self-starter, curiosity and detail orientated essential
- High EQ to build and maintain effective relationships at all levels, across all support functions and business areas
