Purpose of the Role

We are expanding our legal team and are looking for an exceptional technology lawyer to join us as we continue to provide practical and focussed legal advice supporting dentsu as it drives sustainable business growth for its clients.

The role sits within the Global Technology, IP and Privacy Legal team who are based out of London. The role is a broad one and involves a range of work, including supplier and customer contracts, protection and licensing of intellectual property, management of the global trademark portfolio (no experience required), privacy, and leading initiatives within the dentsu international Legal & Compliance team.

There is plenty of opportunity to develop professional and personal skills, take a leading role in the Legal and Compliance team, and work alongside senior management as a trusted business advisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting, negotiating and advising on:
  • complex and cross-regional technology contracts.
  • third party data licensing.
  • the use and application of Generative AI; and
  • commercial agreements with strategic partners.
• Providing legal and strategic advice to stakeholders at various levels of the organisation (including executive-level boards and committees) on technology, intellectual property, data protection, corporate, litigation and compliance matters to protect dentsu's commercial interests.
• Providing legal guidance and negotiation support for the development and deployment of new technology and data initiatives for the benefit of dentsu and its clients.
• Assisting in the delivery of the dentsu strategy alongside our functions and brands.
• Developing and delivering training and risk management initiatives to assist senior management and supporting functions such as Procurement and Finance in strategically managing legal risks.
• Driving and leading legal team strategy initiatives, including the deployment of Legal Operations.
• Shaping the Legal & Compliance function through innovation.
• Briefing and managing external legal counsel in a variety of matters to support group function legal matters.

Qualifications + Skills

• A member of a law society or accredited bar organisation, with circa 4-7 years' post-qualification experience.
• A commercial lawyer with experience in technology, intellectual property, data protection and corporate law.
• Passion for the work they do and the industries they work in, with a demonstrated ability to show leadership (in terms of negotiation, drafting and strategic approach) on commercial transactions.
• Experience of working in a large, fast paced, complex and matrixed environment/organisation.
• Strategic and commercial mindset, with an ability to assess and advise on legal and commercial risk.
• Be confident to explain and clearly communicate on matters that involve board-level and senior management attention.
