At ITV, the M&E legal team sits at the heart of ITV's commercial business, advising on legal matters across the Media & Entertainment division, enabling you to have a real impact on your career, on our viewers and our strategic ambitions.
The role...
Our super talented M&E team has an opportunity to recruit a Legal Advisor to cover a member of the team's Maternity leave. Reporting to the Senior Legal Advisor, (M&E Legal & Business Affairs, Interactive & Commercial) you will sit within ITV's UK focused Media Entertainment division, this role will provide first class legal support to both the Interactive team, who look after competitions, voting and charitable appeals and the Commercial team, who look after airtime, sponsorship, creative partnerships and ad-funded entertainment.
You will provide first class legal advice and support to all the areas of revenue activity at ITV within the Media & Entertainment division in relation to content/programming including:
- airtime
- sponsorship
- product placement
- brand partnership
- ad based commercialisation of digital content on third party platforms (e.g. social media platforms)
- advertising strategy, planning and measurement
Key responsibilities include:
- Drafting, negotiating and advising on high value and/or high materiality contracts in the areas above.
- Supervising paralegal.
- Staying abreast of legal and commercial developments so as to remain at the cutting edge of this fast moving area. This will involve developing and ensuring continual familiarity with the airtime trading market, industry dynamics and challenges faced by the ITV Commercial team and ITV Media and Entertainment.
- Ensuring compliance with sector specific and general regulation such as the Bribery Act, Modern Slavery Act, Broadcasting Code and BCAP Code. This will involve assisting with the formulation and implementation of documented compliance processes and procedures in conjunction with ITV's central legal team where appropriate
- Being a key contact to the lead individuals in ITV Commercial team delivering revenue in relation to content, as well as providing support to any new and emerging areas of content exploitation from time to time.
- Please note that this role will not have oversight of any area of 'rights in' M&E activity in relation to programming or carriage arrangements in relation to channels and services but will need to form a close relationship with the legal heads in those areas.
Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)...
- A commercially minded lawyer with experience of working in a busy, deadline driven environment, managing a high number of competing priorities.
- Comfortable providing complex and time critical legal advice in a user friendly way.
- Some knowledge of the way in which commercial airtime is traded and the CRR mechanism would be an advantage.
- A collaborator with key ITV teams, including compliance, other ITV legal and business affairs teams, finance, HR, Cyber, Risk, Data and Technology.
- An understanding of commercial drivers for the ITV businesses.
- The role would be suitable for a lawyer with 1-3 years' PQE.
