Royal Devon Hospitals Charity (RDHC) has a newly created role for an inspirational leader and legacy specialist. The post holder will line manage a team of three ambitious fundraisers, based in Exeter.

About the Royal Devon Hospitals Charity

It's an exciting time to join Royal Devon Hospitals Charity. The charity (formerly the RD&E Charity) has recently joined forces with our friends in northern Devon (Over and Above) and we're busy raising money to support two new capital appeals in Exeter and North Devon.

As the official charity of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, we support two Acute Hospitals, 17 Community Hospitals and a range of Community, Specialist and Primary Care Services.

The charity helps fund new state-of the-art equipment; create world-class patient and staff environments; support additional staff development and wellbeing projects; and fund cutting-edge research.

Our plans for the future

We've got big ambitions to become a household name for anyone wanting to support the NHS in Exeter, Eastern, Northern and Mid Devon.

And with your enthusiasm, passion and amazing people skills, and by championing our cause, you can make a difference and help us to push the limits of what's possible with NHS funding.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  1. Legacy strategy, plan and implementation: The post holder will implement the development of our Legacy and In Memory giving strategy. This includes engaging potential donors, meeting growth targets as well as guiding the NHS teams on how to maximise the benefit of legacy income to patients and staff.
  2. Ongoing legacy management: Manage a case load of pecuniary, residuary and life interest trust legacies, dealing with them efficiently and effectively - adding value and safeguarding Royal Devon Hospitals Charity interest. Correspond with Executors, families and friends and ensure the positive impact of the legacy is demonstrated and acknowledged.
  3. Supporter care journey: Create a meaningful supporter care journey and information materials that sensitively and effectively informs our supporters about ways to contribute to the Royal Devon Hospitals Charity through leaving a legacy and donating In Memory of a loved one. Nurture key internal and external relationships over many years.
  4. Team leadership: Line management of the fundraising team based at RD&E. Ensuring they receive excellent supervision and support and meet income generation targets. The post holder will oversee all aspects of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's Charity team's day to day fundraising, engagement, and campaign management. This includes responsibilities such as legacy marketing, participation, risk assessments, budget management, and donor engagement.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and evenings. Hybrid and flexible working considered.

Interview Date: To be confirmed.
