We are currently seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Psychology to join our dedicated and committed team at Bath Spa University.
About the Role
The Psychology subject area at Bath Spa University is becoming known as a hub for applying psychology and we are looking for two new lecturers/senior lecturers to help us in our mission to use psychology to improve the lives of people in the local community. We are particularly keen to recruit someone who can contribute to these exciting new endeavours.
The person we recruit will be able to work well with industry and educational partners while also able to bring their experiences into the classroom successfully. Ideally, we aim to recruit someone who can contribute to health, counselling, and/or forensic areas of psychology broadly and will have some excellent practice-based experience.
You will help design and deliver teaching content across a range of modules at Levels 4 to 6 in Psychology Programmes, as well as contributing to curriculum planning and development, and engaging in research or scholarly activity in Psychology. You will have the opportunity to develop new courses and help guide the focus of teaching and research in Psychology at Bath Spa University.
You will also be engaging in relevant research and scholarly activity in support of the university's research strategy, to inform and enhance curriculum design and to improve student experience. In addition, you will be supervising or mentoring colleagues with less experience and advising them on personal development.
About You
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual who will be able to teach Psychology, with a particular focus on applied Psychology at all undergraduate levels, who has a BPS-accredited degree in Psychology and experience teaching or researching applied Psychology, though we will consider applicants with other backgrounds.
You will be keen to contribute to activities such as involvement with open days, public events and building appropriate links with business and the community, as well as being involved in moderation and other quality assurance processes. You will have the aptitude for developing educational partnerships. You will have excellent networking and communication skills, flexible and adaptable to change and be a committed team player.
Additional Information
Salary: Grade Ac3S to Ac3A, GBP 42,978 to GBP 45,585 per annum
Applicants with fewer than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8 FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to complete an approved Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education course during the first two years of employment.
Applicants with more than five years teaching experience in Higher Education of at least 0.8FTE or equivalent who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to accredit their practice through the HEA fellowship application process during their 6-month probation period.
