We are seeking a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Acting to design and deliver content across a range of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, support and assess learners, contribute to curriculum planning and development and engage in research and scholarly activity

About the Role

Within the role you will design and deliver teaching, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in research that enhances student learning. The role involves securing external funding, building industry partnerships, and participating in recruitment and promotional activities. You will also contribute to academic networks, uphold quality standards, and support the School's strategic goals.

We are looking for applicants with professional knowledge of performance in live and recorded media/new technologies (for example, film & TV, audio books, podcast, motion capture) An enterprising approach and entrepreneurial mindset is important, as it is key to the Acting programme's ethos. You will be adaptable and emotionally intelligent and will understand the ever-changing cultural landscape of the creative industries, particularly emerging employability routes and the evolving nature of best practice across the Acting sector. Applications are welcome from professionals and academics with experience in Acting, or whose experience as Creative Producers and/or Directors intersects with Acting.

About You

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of a range of text-based approaches to actor training in live performance and/or recorded media
  • An excellent teacher with demonstrable interest in pedagogic innovation in the training of actors, and/or directors and/or producers
  • Commitment to build and maintain professional and sector networks
  • An ability to inspire learners through commitment to excellent teaching

Additional Information

Salary Grade: Ac3S-Ac3A - Starting from GBP 44,746 rising to GBP 56,536 per annumThe salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
This is an onsite role, based at our Newton Park Campus and our Oldfield Park Theatre Workshops.

  • Applicants with two years or less full-time equivalent teaching experience in Higher Education who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to complete an approved Certificate in Professional Learning in Higher Education course during the first two years of employment
  • Applicants with more than two years full time equivalent teaching experience in Higher Education who do not hold a Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Certificate accredited by the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or HEA fellowship will be required to accredit their practice through the HEA fellowship application process during their 6-month probation period
