At Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital we offer outpatients, rehabilitation and intermediate services. At Uckfield Community Hospital we provide day surgery and outpatient care.

In the community, we deliver services that focus on people with long term conditions living well outside hospital, through our integrated locality teams working with district and community nursing teams. Community members of staff also provide care to patients in their homes and from a number of clinics, health centres and GP surgeries.

Job overview

Do you have a passion for technology and learning? We are seeking a highly-skilled professional to implement a strategic approach to technology enhanced learning here at ESHT. This exciting new role will lead a small team to design, develop and maintain a range of technology-based learning initiatives, maximising the potential of our Totara learning management system and driving ongoing research and development to provide innovative TEL solutions to support our staff and managers to meet their learning needs.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have extensive experience within a TEL environment, expert knowledge of developing engaging eLearning content using a range of e-authoring software and a proven track record of delivering a variety of TEL projects on time. Experience of System management (preferably Totara) is essential to ensure our Learning Management System is maintained and to guarantee our Totara site is fresh and engaging for our users.

The ability to work with a range of stakeholders across our Integrated Education Service, the wider Trust and External providers will be key to delivering our TEL strategy.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or extensive experience in a relevant digital media/technology/ field
  • Advanced Digital/IT qualification
  • Evidence of completion of training/qualification in e-learning design multimedia and use of a range of rapid authoring tools (Technology Enhanced Learning)
  • Multimedia and e-authoring training/qualification
  • Committed to undertaking further study and training relevant to the role and including specific e-authoring tools etc.
  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

Desirable criteria

  • Qualification in education, training or learning and development
  • Qualification and or/proven experience over 3 years in QI methodology or project management (including apprenticeships)
  • Qualification or proven experience over 3 years in in Web page and APP development

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Extensive experience of Digital systems, in particular e-authoring tools
  • Substantial experience of designing elearning packages e-learning and working with a range of platforms, including Moodle
  • Experience and understanding of digital design and branding, including the design of quality dashboards within an LMS
  • Experience in developing and/or maintaining online content including video production and editing/animation/interactive documents etc
  • Understanding and ability to manage social media content, including promotion and marketing
  • Understanding the fast-pace of digital developments and the ability to keep up to date with new functionality
  • Experienced user of MS Office packages including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook/NHS Mail
  • Proven ability to prioritise and manage changing and/or conflicting deadlines
  • High level of communication/ interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels within the organisation and with excellent customer service values
  • Supervisory/management experience and ability to lead a team

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of learning management systems (preferably Totara), database management and information systems
  • Experience of dealing with confidential information
  • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment
