Learning Re-integration Mentor - Level 3 - Dorchester Learning Centre

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About The Role

We have a new exciting opportunity within our school as Learning Mentors/Pastoral officers to join the re-integration team. These are Dorset Grade 9 posts, to reflect the responsibility and importance of the roles. The aim of the post is for you to support our dual registered pupils in their eventual return to their mainstream school. You will support the pupils to significantly increase their attendance at school and ensure that both pupils and families are signposted and helped to access additional sources of support.

There will be little classroom assistance required of you, as it is expected that there will be a high pastoral element in the role.

You will be working closely with our Safeguarding team, as well as mainstream schools and other professionals and stakeholders. It is therefore essential that you have excellent communication skills and have the confidence to command the gravitas that the role requires. You will be expected to work at a high standard and have significant experience of working with multi professionals to strategically plan a course of action to support the child through their education journey.

If you are interested in this post, we highly recommend that you come and visit the school to discuss the job further with our Headteacher as this is a new post and the job description doesn't encompass the full range of responsibilities.

Dorchester Learning Centre provides education for the most vulnerable students in Dorset. We are the only school in Dorset that has the Trauma and Mental Health Informed School accreditation.

We are a learning community that is child centred, putting the needs of our students first. We look to appoint dynamic, creative and resilient individuals to the role of Learning Mentor within our school. We know from Ofsted and our experience that we get the best out of our students when they have secure and positive relationships with staff and that they are able to learn most effectively when these are in place.

We passionately believe that happy, highly respected employees make for good teaching and support staff. We therefore take the wellbeing of our staff very seriously and ensure that they all maintain a healthy work-life balance. Successful candidates will be prepared to work hard and respond to the daily challenges of school life but won't have any unreasonable demands placed upon them.

"There are secure and trusting relationships between staff and pupils at Dorchester Learning Centre. These are vital to the success and positive experiences of the pupils who attend. Staff are ambitious in their vision to get the best possible outcomes for pupils during their time at the school. Staff encourage pupils to be aspirational and leaders work to make sure that pupils receive the support they need towards achieving their goals." Ofsted report (Good) - May 2022
