Job purpose/summary:

This role is responsible for developing and delivering the products and technical solutions to support our customers' requirements.

It will provide the key technical support to our customers, to establish partnerships with key customers both in the UK and internationally. Establishing service and support systems to the benefit of both the business and partners.

Work with customers to identify opportunities and provide solutions to technical issues to drive business growth. Developing innovative solutions to drive new product development to the benefit of the business, the specific customer, and the wider customer base.

Take ownership of the NPI process to deliver products to schedule, quality, and cost. Working with suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure successful project handover.

To own and manage the product approvals and technical product databases, ensuring consistency and accuracy of the data provided.

Key Accountabilities and decision ownership:

  • Leading and developing the technical team to deliver innovative customer focussed products
  • Working with customers and partners to identify and deliver product innovation leading to business growth
  • Lead service support to improve customer outcomes and service quality
  • The role will work closely with the sales team to develop partnerships with customers and will feed into the NPI process to drive NPD, working cross functionally to provide solutions.
  • Responsible for ensuring all products and service are compliant with current legislation and regulations

Key Performance Objectives (KPO's) (max 3):
• Delivery of the planned NPI programme of products including successful delivery of Connect project
• Establish partnerships with key customers with tangible business benefits i.e. growth streams, new markets
• Implement technical support structure for sales, marketing, service and partners leading to improved outcomes.
• Drive margin improvement year on year through technical solution provision
• Work with wider GDHA team specifically for the governance of the stage and gate process
• Ensure quality is built into the all the products and processes from design onwards

Must have:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a technical leadership role.
  • A proven track record of product design and development, preferably of refrigerators in a medical/laboratory/pharmacy setting.
  • Project management experience of leading product development and delivery to quality, cost and delivery targets.
  • Customer and client facing experience in a technical capacity, commercial experience.
  • International client experience in a technical role.
  • Solid engineering background with refrigeration experience.
  • Manufacturing engineering skills to enable efficient operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, organisation, and strong problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities to increase consumer satisfaction, revenue, and efficiencies.
  • Ability to define key success metrics, set performance goals, and continually monitor key performance indicators for improvement.

Technical/professional qualifications:

  • Degree, HNC/D or equivalent
  • Time-served apprenticeship in a technical discipline
