We currently have an opportunity for a Leakage Analytics Manager to join our team based in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £45,000 - £50,000 per annum plus excellent benefits.

About the role

Our Leakage Analytics Manager will support a wide range of functions within South West Water and work alongside a team of experienced data scientists, analysts and engineers to improve leakage reporting methodologies and provide analytical insights to operational leakage delivery teams in the South West, Bournemouth and Isles of Scilly.

There is also the opportunity to work alongside our research partners at the University of Exeter within the newly established Centre for Resilience Environment, Water and Waste (CREWW).

What you'll be doing:

    • Be accountable for the reporting of leakage and associated metrics for regulatory submissions
    • Be accountable for forecasting leakage performance and recommending tactical and long-term plans to improve performance
    • Overseeing leakage reporting processes and change control
    • Improving existing tools and processes in readiness for smarter networks and other opportunities to collect and analyse large datasets (e.g. smart meters)
    • Finding opportunities for innovation and coordinating trials with new technologies which utilise sensor and asset data to improve water accountancy and water loss detection (e.g. background leakage)
    • Carrying out sensitivity analysis on key datasets used for leakage reporting allowances including Household Night Use, Non-Household Night Use, Meter Under Registration and Hour to Day factors
    • Performing seasonal analysis to quantify the impact of tourism, weather and other external factors
    • Leading the analysis of Natural Rate of Rise, Minimum Achievable Leakage, and the Sustainable Economic Level of Leakage
    • Identifying sources of upstream water loss in trunk mains, reservoirs, water treatment works and abstraction
    • Contributing to the improvement of regulatory reporting processes for leakage and the Water Balance

What we are looking for:

    • A computer science, mathematics, geographic or data science and analytics background
    • Experience in the water industry or similar industry and familiar within regulatory frameworks
    • Excellent report writing skills with the adoption of a strategic, business focussed approach
    • Experience presenting data and insights to a varied audience
    • Detailed understanding of analytical approaches to support leakage management
    • Invested in the interests of the company; to provide clean safe drinking water, protect the environment, and exceed customer service expectations
