Job title: Lead Quality Engineer

Salary: Up to £55,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:

To lead on the implementation of the Business Management System (BMS) policy, process and management of the BMS toolset including Nimbus, training and coaching the business on the use of the BMS

To lead a team of Quality professionals, tasked at driving and delivering Quality management deliverables across the Naval Ships business

To lead on the development and maintenance of end to end process mapping of the Naval Ships business

To lead on stakeholder and customer engagement related to the BMS – such as the Process Governance Board, Customer Meetings and Group Quality

To lead the project to align the Naval Ships BMS with the requirements of the new Corporate Enterprise BMS (GBTEC BIC) which will be deployed in 2026

Support on Information and Record Management (IRM) on behalf of the Quality Function

Lead assigned ISO 9001:2015 / AQAP 2110 audits and Quality Investigations
Your skills and experiences:

Comprehensive understanding and experience of Business/Quality Management Systems

Strong process mapping skills and experience, with the ability to run workshops and use process mapping software

Strong communication skills and the ability to present information at all levels of the business

Understanding and comfortable using SharePoint and Microsoft Office products

Lead Auditor trained

The Business Management System (BMS) team:
Business Management System (BMS) Lead Quality Engineer is a key and influential role within the Quality Function, with line management of 2 direct reports (BMS Team), reporting to a Quality Manager. The BMS Team is part of the wider Quality Function team and sits within the central Quality Function. The role involves engagement with all areas of the business, regular contact with process owners, governance leads, heads of functions and sector/group
The role offers an exciting opportunity to manage and develop the Naval Ships business management system, drive our compliance to ISO 9001:2015 QMS requirements, deliver improvements and work with Group to enable a successful transition across to the Enterprise GBTEC BIC business management system from 2026 onwards
Other aspects of the role involves undertaking assigned ISO 9001:2015/AQAP 2110 QMS audits and quality investigations using proven methodologies. Line management of 2 quality professionals and coaching of others on the BMS, including quality apprentices, provides the opportunity to develop leadership skills
