Person specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience of designing, developing, testing and managing interfaces using Intersystems HealthShare and Epic Bridges toolsets.
- Advanced software development skills using Caché ObjectScript in a business environment
- Extensive knowledge of HL7 v2/v3, XML, HL7-CDA, DICOM and FHIR messaging in relation to NHS data and workflows, using various communication protocols, tools and technologies
- Substantial experience of managing Intersystems Caché/IRIS integration server platform
- Extensive experience of conducting in depth technical analysis required for integrating hospital clinical systems through messaging & interfaces
- Extensive experience of delivering integration solutions, software products and the accompanying application configurations in a healthcare setting.
- Good working knowledge of common patient visit workflows and events that drive NHS data flow through interfaces/messages.
- Extensive experience of working with system users, suppliers and subject matter experts throughout interface delivery cycles.
- Extensive experience of utilising and producing technical documentation
- Extensive experience of solving complex and multi-stranded IT issues
- Substantial experience in an IT management role
- Substantial experience of IT project management including contribution to IT business cases, and production of relevant project documentation
- Previous experience in NHS or similar healthcare IT environment.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture, systems architecture, integration architecture and data architecture standards, frameworks and architecture best practices
- Good working knowledge of business workflows in key clinical areas e.g. ED, Laboratory, Radiology, Pharmacy
- Good working knowledge of SQL and an industry-standard Relational Database Management System such as Oracle or SQL Server in a business environment.
- Experience in the 2nd or 3rd line IT support.
- Experience of service-oriented architecture delivery.
- Project Management methods for Integration delivery.
- Specialist experience in EPR/LIMS integration development.

Essential criteria
- Capability to develop skills quickly in any technical environment appropriate to service provision and ability to analyse and strong problem solving approach to issue resolution
- Good organisational skills including time management, record keeping and paying attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate a range of IM&T issues which can be complex and multi-stranded to all levels within the organisation and with external partners.
- Ability to plan and organise broad range of complex activities, formulate and adjust plans which impact beyond own area
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of team or on own initiative
- Strong management experience. Ability to manage, motivate and develop staff.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure. Able to cope with unpredictable and intense situations.
- Able to take responsibility for decisions.
Other requirements
Essential criteria
- Be Part of On-call rota
- Ability to undertake shift working including out-of-hours, weekends and Public Holidays.
- Ability to travel to all sites within the MFT, other reference sites and off-site training venues which might be overseas.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience of undertaking IT on-call responsibilities.
- Previous experience of undertaking integration platform upgrades.
- Previous experience of supporting hospital EPR system upgrades.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- A UK Master's degree in Computer Science or a related subject, or an equivalent qualification or experience in large-scale, complex IT solution implementations involving integration and interoperability
- Intersystems Healthshare Development certification or equivalent experience
- Epic Bridges certification
Desirable criteria
- Certification in other InterSystems product toolset e.g. Caché server administration and Caché ObjectScript.
- EPIC specialist certification in clinical modules e.g. Beaker/Radiant/Cupid/Willow
- Prince 2 accreditation; Familiarity with Agile
