Salary:£54,952 - £64,738 + car allowance + a range of benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

The role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Land Manager within our Network directorate which will be pivotal in supporting the operational needs of the electrical network. This opportunity has arisen to be part of our Vegetation and Land Management team with the focus on day-to-day management of the non-operational landscaped and woodland areas within the ownership of the Transmission business.

You will

  • Work closely with the Transmission Network directorate, acting as Operational lead in reviewing, advising, and monitoring new planting schemes connected to various substation capital projects ensuring they comply with industry best practice while meeting the core objective of the scheme.
  • Managing annual inspection and maintenance of young woodland areas to ensure that they establish to meet the design requirements and any planning conditions for the site.
  • Managing amenity woodland areas within Transmission ownership, including undertaking professional tree inspections and woodland / vegetation surveys to identify and evaluate tree risks like decay, disease, or structural weaknesses that could impact tree health and stability.
  • Develop and manage maintenance plans utilising internal and external resources to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget and sustainably as well as managing potential risks to future network security.
  • Engage with all levels of stakeholders to ensure that information is handed over to Operations team in an efficient and sustainable way such that no unforeseen costs or burdens impact the future operation and maintenance of the network.

You have

  • A recognised Forestry or Environmental qualification e.g. HND, BSC or similar with some silviculture experience
  • Extensive knowledge of tree species, growth characteristics, optimal growing conditions and planting maintenance with experience of conducting tree inspections and developing maintenance schedules.
  • Experience in sustainable woodland management principles
  • A flexible approach to work locations across the whole of SSEN Transmission operating area and be genuinely committed to help maintain the safe and reliable network
  • Excellent negotiation skills and experience of working with key stakeholders, such as landowners, tenants and their agents, local authorities, national agencies

**Please note - It is an essential requirement for this role that you have a full, current driving licence due to the rural nature of the role**
