Department: Operations

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Bristol, UK

Reporting To: Chris Gumbleton

Compensation: GBP 50,000 - GBP 60,000 / year

Description

We're building the next UK-headquartered engineering powerhouse.

There is a gulf between the needs of mission-focused organisations and the development and delivery of the critical technology they rely on. The consequences of this are felt acutely by underserved frontline operators, demanding a new breed of engineering enterprise to bridge this divide.

Rowden exists to meet this need. We design and build systems, infrastructure, and applications to deliver mission advantage to those working to protect the security of the UK and its allies. Rowden is setting a new standard in government technology provision: hyper-efficient engineering, better customer relationships, and rapid assimilation of commercial technology.

As Rowden's Knowledge and Information Manager, you will enable our team to do their best work. You will be responsible for ensuring our approach to knowledge and information management is efficient, intuitive and user centric. Your role will emphasise the design and usability of our systems, ensuring they meet the needs of end-users while maintaining robust data governance. By integrating, configuring and managing our tools effectively, you will enable information to flow seamlessly throughout the organisation, giving the right people the right information at the right time.

Whether it's providing our engineers with version-controlled technical documentation, supporting our sales team with curated bid copy, or enabling our managers to make strategic decisions based on accurate and up to date information, you will play a key role in the success of the company.

Key areas of responsibility

As Knowledge and Information Manager at Rowden, you'll be responsible for:

  • Defining Rowden's knowledge management strategy, with a focus on user experience and service design.
  • Designing, implementing and iterating scalable information architectures.
  • Ensuring Rowden's information is up to date, curated, and regularly audited.
  • Integrating tooling to enable information flows throughout the organisation.
  • Providing accurate, real-time management reporting.
  • Continuously assessing and improving the usability of information systems.
  • Providing best practice guidance for data handling, storage, and usage.
  • Developing and enforcing data governance policies to ensure the integrity, security, and proper use of data.

Key skills, experience and behaviours

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in knowledge management and a passion for service design. You will be constantly learning and developing in this role, but some key skills and experience you should already have include:

  • A passion for user-centric design.
  • Technical proficiency in the management, integration and automation of software tools and workflows.
  • An in depth understanding of best-in-class tooling and industry trends.
  • A detailed understanding of information management frameworks and best practice.
  • The ability to elicit requirements from cross-functional teams and design and implement intuitive user-centric solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.

About you

You are a detail-oriented and innovative professional who thrives on creating systems that are both effective and user-friendly:

  • You have a user-first mindset and are passionate about improving how information systems serve their users.
  • You are proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • You possess a deep understanding of knowledge management and the importance of well-governed information systems.
  • You are able to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • You are committed to continuous learning and development in the fields of knowledge management and service design.
