Vintage is a commercially and critically successful publisher with a catalogue of over 6,000 titles, which has also seen three years of consecutive growth. We publish some of the world's most thought-provoking, unforgettable, beautifully designed books - from contemporary trailblazers to our red-spine Vintage Classics. This means that our broad family of authors ranges from world-class prize-winners to emerging talent, including the winner of the 2024 Booker Prize, Samantha Harvey, and the winner of the 2024 Baillie Gifford Prize, Richard Flanagan. As well as Margaret Atwood, Tim Spector, Haruki Murakami, Toni Morrison, Ocean Vuong, Jo Nesbo, Nigella Lawson, Sean Hewitt, Gabrielle Zevin, and Ian McEwan.

This is a key role in our successful sales department where you will have account management responsibility for Waterstones (Fiction), WHS Travel, and Tesco.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively and creatively with buyers and booksellers to build a successful relationship with these key retail partners.
  • Proactively feeding your expert market knowledge back into the division and working with key stakeholders to influence and drive strategy across the business.
  • Read widely across the Vintage catalogue to find opportunities to bring books back to market and work collegiately with our publishing colleagues, as well as the wider sales team.
  • Engaging with our Sales Operations, Inventory, and Production teams, managing budgets, and analysing the market for trends and sales opportunities.

What you'll bring

Essential criteria:

  • A strong communicator and someone who has a proven record of building excellent working relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • A passion for publishing and demonstrable interest in working specifically for Vintage.
  • Strong presentation skills. The ability to influence.
  • Commercial acumen and sales analysis skills .
  • An attention to detail.

Salary

Up to £39,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.

Hybrid working

While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. For this role we expect that you will come to our office in London 2-3 days a week.
