Location: Oldham or Leicester base, however this is a national field sales role

Viking has an exciting opportunity for a Key Account Manager to join the growing Sales team in the UK. Based in the North of England (Anywhere from Birmingham upwards and will include Scotland,) the role is a full time, permanent position offering excellent salary and benefits, with a generous commission scheme.

Your role

The role will involve a mixture of new business development and key account management. You will start with a handful of clients in your portfolio, dividing your time between growing those accounts through category penetration and increased share of wallet and prospecting/ winning new customers primarily in the £100k-£250k spend category, capturing your activity on our CRM system - Salesforce.com. You will be expected to complete bids for future business with the support of our centralised Sales Operation teams, and to build and qualify your own pipeline of prospects.

This is a role for an experienced hunter/ farmer, who possesses the unique set of skills necessary to deliver unrivalled customer service and grow incremental sales, as well as achieving new business wins. Those contracts you win, you will keep, leading to the role becoming more focused on growth within existing contracts as time passes and you increase the size of your customer portfolio.

Your week will mainly be focused around getting in front of clients, both in person and virtually. You will have a Leicester office base, but the option for hybrid working.

Your responsibilities

  • To maximize the lifetime retention and profitability of a portfolio of accounts.
  • To win new business with customers in the £100-£250k range
  • To operate in a lead role with each account to deliver the company's growth aspirations.
  • To identify and win new (share of wallet) business opportunities within existing accounts and to increase barriers to exit to ensure year on year retention.
  • To increase Sales, GP and Net profitability within each account in line with the company's growth aspirations.
  • Have the ability to construct and incorporate a business plan process with business development strategies in conjunction with the customer to deliver solutions that fulfil the customer's objectives and that of the organisation
  • Assisting with the maintenance of accurate and up to date customer records contained in the Account Plans
  • Providing a high level of after sales support, to secure existing contractual business

Your profile

  • Must be able to demonstrate clear evidence of success and career progression in a B2B sales environment
  • Can demonstrate proven experience in winning and selling to large corporate/ commercial customers with a minimum of 2 years' experience at this level
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously, plan time effectively for maximum impact
  • Takes ownership and accountability for results
  • Strong administration and communication skills with the ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence (max 6 points)
  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications (particularly Word and PowerPoint)
  • Must be able to cover the areas of Birmingham to the north coast, however on occasion there may be a requirement for you to travel further afield.
