Job Title: Junior Flight Scientist

Salary: £35,047 – £45,154 (Commensurate with skills and experience)
What you’ll be doing:
You will apply scientific principles to the design and development of fast jets and uncrewed air systems to meet our customer requirements. You will apply these principles to BAE Systems Air products throughout the engineering lifecycle, from initial concept through to disposal.
You could be working in:
- Aerodynamics – making use of various ground and flight tests together with High Performance Computer modelling to support the development of aerodynamic solutions.
- Flight Systems – working alongside design teams on our aircraft to develop and integrate thermal management systems, environmental control systems, flight controls, fuel systems, crew and propulsion integration
- Electromagnetics – working alongside electrical and systems engineers to conduct electromagnetic modelling, hardening and compliance across our range of products
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
- Either of:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM subject
- A HNC or HND in a STEM subject plus relevant full-time work experience
- Innovative and creative problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and team-working skills
- Self-motivated and pro-active with an eagerness to learn
Desirable:
- Demonstrable experience with engineering toolsets (e.g. CAD, FEA, MATLAB) on engineering projects through full-time employment (highly desirable) or through your education
- Experience of the Engineering Lifecycle and awareness of Product Safety
- Open to international travel

You will be working in one of our Flight Sciences teams such as Aerodynamics, Flight Systems or Electromagnetics in a collaborative office environment. Your team will support your development; we will provide technical training and support to Professional Registration.
