Job title: IT Service Operator

Salary: £47,683-£52,426 (dependent on skills and experience)

What you’ll be doing:

  • Overseeing user account management tasks, including creating, updating, and maintaining accounts for end users
  • Managing incidents related to hardware, software, and application issues, ensuring timely and effective resolution
  • Escalating service issues as required and collaborating with relevant teams to achieve prompt resolutions
  • Monitoring network performance to identify and address issues, ensuring consistent system availability and reliability
  • Conducting storage monitoring and management activities to maintain sufficient capacity and system efficiency
  • Updating and maintaining software information pages to ensure users have access to accurate and up-to-date resources
  • Driving continual service improvement initiatives to enhance processes, workflows, and service delivery
  • Communicating effectively with end users to provide updates, resolve queries, and deliver excellent support
  • Managing Samba shares and access, including the creation of new shares and ensuring appropriate permissions are in place

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Good working knowledge of Linux based OS such as Red Hat
  • Excellent customer focus and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships

Desirable:

  • Possession of ITIL v3 or v4 certification is advantageous
  • Proven experience in IT support and IT service management

Engineering Systems Competency Centre:

The ESCC provide IT support for a large number of in-house developed, and off-the-shelf engineering toolsets across various programmes within BAE, working with a variety of customers from various disciplines within the engineering community.
