We are looking to offer an IT Programme Manager the opportunity to join our expanding Group IT team based in Stevenage.

About the team

The project team is part of an internal centralised IT team that operates at a group level and provides IT services to subsidiary companies that comprise M Group Services. The project team is responsible for the delivery of multiple IT and digital related programmes or projects.

The team is growing in line with a pipeline of programmes or projects. The team is currently made up of 11 resources and will continue to expand as new programmes or projects become active.

About the role

As the IT Programme Manager, you will be joining M Group Services at an exciting time driven by rapid growth. You will lead and shape the delivery of an IT programme or a set of projects in different stages of the delivery lifecycle.

Successfully manage IT programmes relating to Acquisitions, IT Infrastructure or Applications, across M Group Services. You will oversee projects within programmes to time, cost and quality. You will effectively own the relevant key stakeholder relationships.

We offer a flexible working environment where hybrid working has been embedded. You would be required to attend the office two to three days per week.

As the IT Programme Manager, you'll get the opportunity to:

  • Plan and design the programme and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action
  • Adhere to the M Group Services IT PMO 'Methodology'
  • Manage the programme's budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the programme progresses
  • Ensure there is allocation of common resources and skills within the programme's individual projects
  • Manage third party contributions to the programme
  • Manage communications with all stakeholders
  • Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects
  • Manage risks to the programme's successful outcome. If necessary, feed these risks into the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans
  • Initiate extra activities and other management interventions, wherever gaps in the programme are identified or issues arise
  • Ensure that the necessary governance documentation has been completed
  • Report on the status of the programme - ensure that each project manager or lead has produced and provided a status report for inclusion within the programme status report
  • Support the Head of Project Management with recruitment

What you'll bring?

  • Degree or equivalent, professional qualification advantageous (such as, MSP / PRINCE2 / AgilePM)
  • Minimum 2 years' IT Programme Management experience
  • Strong IT Programme Management experience in overseeing IT transition/transformation aspects of an acquisition
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment and able to switch from strategic to tactical hands-on approach
  • Skilled in strategic & tactical planning and programme management
  • Strong Stakeholder Management
  • Strong communications skills and ability to communicate and influence at all levels (inc. C-level)
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects and onsite/offshore teams simultaneously
  • Good financial and budgeting experience
  • Experience with vendor/contract management and negotiations
