Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced IT Environment/Release Manager here at L&G. You will ensure stability and control of our IT non-production environments and oversee smooth release deployments with minimal business disruption. In this role, you will manage non-production environments, act as the gatekeeper for releases, and implement a robust Release Management framework. We seek a strategic thinker who can establish effective processes and controls, helping project teams minimise delays and speed up market delivery while maintaining environment integrity.

What you'll be doing:

  • Overseeing and supporting application environments, ensuring integrity and managing configurations, including OS versions, patches, and software.
  • Establishing and maintaining Environment Strategies, policies, processes, and IT Controls in line with ITIL best practices, supporting Release, Development, and Test Management.
  • Managing environment allocation, scheduling, and shared usage, coordinating upgrades, service levels, and support requirements.
  • Collaborating with Solution Architects to align environment design with strategic objectives and reduce costs.
  • Planning and managing release/deployment activities, including forward planning, task/resource management, and maintaining Run Books.
  • Supporting project delivery by defining requirements and providing expert guidance on environment utilisation and efficiencies.
  • Defining and publishing KPIs on environment usage, planning, performance, capacity, and availability.
  • Monitoring and resolving environment-related incidents, analysing trends, and contributing to continual improvement.
  • Ensuring Identity and Access Management for non-production environments and oversee related policies.
  • Maintaining Configuration and Version Control across all environments.

Qualifications

Who we're looking for:

  • ITIL Foundation (Ideally V4)
  • Financial Applications - Oracle, Mainframe etc a bonus
  • Good understanding of Cloud (AWS or Azure)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and associated tools and integration
  • Knowledge of Environment and Release, Configuration and Test Management principles and policies and of SDLC
  • Prior experience in Release Management is a distinct advantage
  • Experience/exposure to DevOps, Agile methodology and ServiceNow, JIRA
  • Plutora or any other Release and Environment Management tool
  • Exposure to Source/Version control tools, CI/CD pipelines
