Job Description

Base salary: £34650vpa to c.£40750 pa depending on skills and experience. In addition, we offer flexible benefits fund of 15% which is paid on top base salary and is fully pensionable, as well as a range of competitive benefits - check them out in the Benefits section on our website.

As the IT Business Performance Manager you will be responsible for executing the IT's single and multi-year financial planning, budgeting and forecasting activities to drive business performance and benefit realisation. The role manages IT's finances to ensure optimal business performance and value optimization from IT spend.

About the role:

  • Develop financial plans and forecasts in collaboration with IT SLT and the Finance Business Partner.
  • Collate required financial data and reports for analysis and to facilitate decision-making.
  • Advise IT stakeholders on financial planning, budgeting, costing, accounting and charging using recognised accounting practices and standards.
  • Assist with identifying and calculating process, service, project, and component costs to feed into HS2 IT financial plans and forecasts.
  • Collate required financial data and reports for analysis and to support wider decision making within HS2 IT
  • Support the monitoring of information quality and ensure information provided is suitable for analysis and controlling, managing, and recording IT costs.
  • Develop periodic variance and trend analysis and insight, including the identification of cost reduction opportunities and financial risks.
  • Prepare operational planning data for single and multi-year financial planning
  • Execute Purchase Order and invoicing processes within HS2 IT
  • Monitor benefits realised from contracts and raise where relevant when expected outcomes are not met
  • Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.

About you:

Skills:

  • Financial management. Financial awareness, such as an understanding of accruals and prepayments, with an ability to interpret and prioritise transactional information.
  • Benefit realisation. Ability to identify specific metrics to measure benefits and communicate the value delivered from IT spend
  • Collaboration. Ability to work collaboratively both within IT and with Directorates outside of IT in relation to operational transactions.
  • Data analysis. Analysing data to provide useful management information to key stakeholders using relevant tools.
  • Stakeholder communication. Communication skills, such as producing monthly reports, discussion with IT SLT budget holders.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of ERP systems
  • Knowledge of business financials and reporting processes
  • Knowledge of standard SLAs and vendor contracts
  • Understanding of the product environment, and its impact on supplier contract management
  • Some knowledge of the industry and functional areas

Type of Experience:

  • Experience compiling and analysing operational forecasts and planning, including producing complex visuals using relevant tools
  • Experience working with corporate financials in a complex, multi-vendor environment
  • Experience with managing business performance for an IT function, working with senior stakeholders.
