General Summary:

The Manager - International Tax will be a key member of Qualcomm's global tax team, reporting to the Senior Manager - Tax based in the UK. This individual will manage the direct tax reporting and compliance for the Qualcomm entities in the UK and Europe and support the business from a direct tax perspective. They will work closely with the regional tax and finance teams as well as the functional tax and trade teams (Provision, Planning, Domestic, and Trade) in managing and providing a coordinated and proactive approach on tax topics/projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Primary responsibility for direct tax reporting (US GAAP and local GAAP) and compliance for the Qualcomm UK entities. This includes managing and working with external advisors for preparation of all aspects of the UK corporate tax returns, including patent box and RDEC claims and Pillar 2 compliance obligations.
  • Manage the preparation, review and timely filing of the direct tax returns for Qualcomm entities in select countries in EMEA.
  • Support quarterly reporting on ETR, entity forecasts, cash and R&Os for the countries responsible for and take ownership at the legal entity level of all tax positions
  • Manage any tax audits in countries responsible for, leveraging internal functional expertise and service providers as required
  • Support the business operationally, on all transactions including joint ventures and go-to-market strategies, to mitigate adverse tax impacts, and manage withholding tax and permanent establishment issues
  • Support compliance with U.S. and Local tax regulations (e.g. MDR, SOX, SAF-T, Pillar 2); support and continuously develop company tax policies, practices and controls
  • Manage or support any local and international projects arising from supply chain changes, M&A, business transformations or external law changes (e.g. BEPS, tax reforms etc)
  • Support simplification initiatives including legal entity simplification and improving processes that are owned by and/or impact tax

Skills and Experience

  • CTA/ACA/ACCA qualification
  • 5+ years of corporate tax experience in industry or practice
  • Tax provision experience and understanding of accounting pronouncements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: clear thinker with ability to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers
  • Excellent communication skills: experience working across multiple levels, functions and regions within global teams; able to clearly communicate and present complex information in an easy-to-understand manner; able to deliver messages effectively verbally and in writing and effectively partner to implement business decisions/solutions as a result

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree.
• 5+ years of Finance, Accounting, or related work experience.

*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master's = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
