Countryside Manager

An exciting opportunity has become available in the Green Infrastructure Team to manage, develop, and provide countryside services across a range of sites in the north of the borough and including the Bollin Valley Partnership area. The position is 37 hours per week.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

You will manage and develop countryside services, facilities and staff to deliver a countryside management service ensuring that a professional countryside service is provided across an operational area for the benefit of visitors and the natural environment. The role is centred on land management best practice balancing the betterment of the natural environment alongside promoting recreational opportunities. The role will also require management of the Council's pedigree Longhorn cattle herd.

ABOUT YOU

You will have:

  • Degree or equivalent in land-based discipline (e.g. geography, countryside management)
  • Previous experience working in countryside management, or a similar field.
  • An understanding of cattle management and agricultural practices
  • Experience in a leadership position in a management context
  • Experience of financial procedures, including budget monitoring
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure to successfully meet changing and, often, competing deadlines and demands
  • Developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience of ICT packages associated with land management
  • Valid full driving licence.
