The Team
The role sits within our KPMG Financial Services Governance, Risk and Compliance Services (GRCS) practice. The team is based nationally and covers all elements of the Financial Services sector. This includes large retail and investment banks, challenger banks and building societies and insurance and asset management companies. This role is intended to specifically focus on our work with the insurance sector. By combining our deep commercial, sector and technical expertise we help our clients deliver real results. The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving delivery on various Governance, Risk and Internal Audit engagement with a particular focus on Insurance sector clients and correspondingly possess a good understanding of the applicable Conduct and Compliance Risks associated with this sector.
You will need to be adaptable and be able to respond to the dynamic landscape we are currently operating in and respond to client needs, which leverage core capabilities, in areas such as ESG, Operational Resilience, Third Party Risk Management, and broader Governance and Control Framework reviews.
You will be responsible for developing client relationships, leading business development initiatives and supporting the Partners/Directors Group in the delivery of a portfolio of Internal Audit, Governance, Risk and Control engagements and External Quality Assessments of Internal Audit functions.
- Supporting Partners/Directors to identify and develop new client relationships. This includes understanding client needs and highlighting further work opportunities to client service teams and assisting in the development of compelling proposals/solutions to support new business initiatives.
- Actively participating in and supporting the Partners/Directors in business development activity including the development of proposals and presenting to client selection panels.
- Leading on proactive business development activities with Insurance sector clients. This will include curating and presenting Insurance-specific content at regular Heads of Internal Audit client sessions and other business development events.
- Assisting with building new client relationships through attendance at both internally hosted and external events.
- Supporting the delivery of training to IA teams on the Insurance sector, regulatory themes, IA, thought leadership and industry hot topics.
- Collaboration with a number of firm-wide subject matter experts providing assurance to clients on emerging risk areas.
- Acting as a coach to members of the team and helping with the development of the team as a whole and performance management responsibilities for junior members of the team.
- Setting, managing and monitoring engagement risks, budgets and profitability, including identifying additional revenue opportunities. Forecasting and reporting on client engagements.
- Supporting the Senior Leadership Team with the running of the service line and contributing to key initiatives and practice development.
Qualifications & Skills
- Achieved an Accountancy/Internal Audit qualification including but not limited to ACA, ACCA, IIA, CCAB. We will also consider other suitable Internal Audit qualifications.
- Significant Internal Audit, Governance, Risk and Control experience, including experience of co-ordinating teams delivering audits and management of annual planning processes.
- Industry and/or professional services experience with FS clients, especially Insurance.
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to facilitate workshops both internally and externally.
- Outstanding communication skills and experience of dealing with senior stakeholders
- Proven ability to build strong, long lasting client relationships.
- Strong project and people management skills.
