In this role, you will be responsible for driving a comprehensive sustainability transformation Programme across Armstrong Fluid Technology's UK, Middle East, and European (EMEA) business. The role will embed the Planet Proposition (PP) at the core of operations and support the organisation's ambition to become a leader in sustainable building solutions. This role is accountable for providing integrated support across all services, driving sustainability initiatives throughout the portfolio, and collaborating closely with local and regional teams. The position has a dual focus on delivering sustainability projects and enabling the sales organisation to achieve sustainability-driven growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Programme Delivery
- Implement the global sustainability strategy, objectives, and tactical requirements across the UK & EMEA regions
- Develop and support delivery of a 2030 Net Zero Buildings roadmap
- Assist in establishing an embodied carbon database (TM65 → LCAs → EPDs progression)
- Coordinate planning and delivery of community projects aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals
- Support waste reduction initiatives, particularly plastics and hazardous waste
Governance, Reporting & Compliance
- Lead compilation of data for monthly A3 Plans
- Deliver monthly management information reports covering environmental, waste, sustainability, and financial performance metrics
- Manage annual SECR data reporting (including ClearVUE automation)
- Ensure insights from the ClearVUE energy and carbon platform are actively reviewed and acted upon
- Maintain and annually update the Sustainability Questionnaire FAQ document
- Provide input into quarterly Global PP meetings and LDW Sustainability Reviews
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
- Establish, facilitate, and lead monthly UK & EMEA PP meetings
- Ensure timely completion of actions arising from PP meetings
- Act as the "go-to" sustainability expert for the EMEA Managing Director and country leadership teams
- Champion sustainability engagement campaigns in collaboration with local and regional teams
- Provide guidance on emerging sustainability trends and regulatory developments across EMEA
- Advise on risks associated with new legislation and recommend mitigation strategies
Commercial & Sales Enablement
- Support the sales organisation in leveraging sustainability to drive revenue growth
- Work with sales teams and customers to align on sustainability targets and solutions
- Contribute to achieving sustainability-related sales targets
- Assist Finance with the placement of annual energy contracts, ensuring alignment with sustainability objectives
Marketing & Communications
- Support marketing in delivering sustainability content, including social media updates, case studies, and webinars
- Promote internal and external awareness of sustainability initiatives and achievements
What We're Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Sustainability, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in sustainability, environmental management, or related roles
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations and reporting frameworks (e.g., SECR, GRI)
- Experience working across multiple regions or in a matrix organisation is desirable
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation
- Experience with sustainability reporting tools and platforms (e.g., ClearVUE or equivalent)
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project
- Understanding of carbon accounting, embodied carbon, and lifecycle assessment methodologies
- Ability (or willingness to attain within three years) to achieve a recognised credential such as PMP, LEED AP, BREEAM AP, Certified Energy Manager, or LCA Certified Professional
