This is an excellent development opportunity for an experienced manager to further develop their strategic thinking and leadership skills as the Interim Operations Director (OD) for the Children, Young People and Families (CYPF) Clinical Directorate at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT), working directly with the Chief Operating Officer.

The OD role is a visible leadership position providing operational oversight of CYPF, to maintain quality of care, safety, patient experience, and flow, ensuring the delivery of activity and outcomes within the budgeted resources available.

CYPF incorporates Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and physical health services in the community, in addition to neurodevelopment services. These services are commissioned by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS), NHS England Specialist Commissioning as well as other external parties.

Main duties of the job

The Operations Director (OD) role is a visible leadership role providing operational oversight for the Childrens Young People and Families (CYPF) Directorate to maintain quality of care, safety, patient experience and flow ensuring the delivery of activity and outcomes within the budgeted resources available. The role will ensure that the CYPF services meet the needs of the changing demography of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough population and offer equal and equitable access to service users and offers equal and inclusive opportunities for the workforce.

CYPF incorporates Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and physical health services in the community, in addition to neurodevelopment services. These services are commissioned by Cambridgeshire and Peterborough , NHS England Specialist Commissioning as well as other external parties. There are a number of partnership arrangements, working with Cambridge Community Services as well as charitable organisations.

  • Be accountable for the performance management of CYPF
  • Be responsible for the development and delivery of operational delivery plans within the Directorate
  • Work alongside clinicians, engaging widely with a range of internal and external stakeholders in order to deliver optimal services for patients and other stakeholders
  • Facilitate the design and development of clinical pathways
  • Lead and support the planning, development and implementation of service transformation and improvement
  • Participate in long term planning and strategic projects for CPFT to ensure CYPF services are considered and that there is long term sustainable model.

  • Ensure there is proactive management of risk and co-ordinate all responses to patient complaints in a timely way.

Essential

  • Postgraduate management qualification at Master's level or equivalent level of experience.

Desirable

  • Programme and project management qualifications

Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience of managing operational services at a senior management level in a large, complex health care organisation. This would include sound working experience and knowledge of a number of management disciplines across Operations, Finance, HR and Governance
  • Successful record of managing and implementing substantial service transformation and organisational change projects

Desirable

  • Experience of planning and implementing long term strategy.
  • Experience of working closely with Commissioners to inform and implement policy initiatives.

Skills and Abilites

  • Ability to translate complex issues and problems into clearly articulated and understandable recommendations and plans.
  • Ability to develop flexible and creative solutions to difficult problems and challenges
  • Ability to use techniques such as option appraisal to underpin decision making.
