Job Description
The Interface Manager is the primary point of contact for interface with other HS2 Rail Systems, civils, stations, rolling stock contracts the CRN and HS2 business systems and leads Interface management within the Rail Systems contract HRS02 M+E.
The Interface Manager shall ensure that co-ordination between relevant parties is correctly recorded, managed and resolved throughout the project lifecycle and the relevant interface documentation is maintained through accurate records in accordance with the Contractors Interface Management Plan. The Interface Manager will be part of the engineering team
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for creating, maintaining and administering the works in accordance with the Contractors Interface Management Plan and processes;
- Responsible for managing input into and reporting output of the Interface Management Tools (Relatics)
- Responsible for managing the interface and integration activities-interface definitions:
Physical interfaces, where there is a physical connection or physical dependency on another item (an example is cable linkage between two systems or sub systems)
Functional interfaces, where there is a functional connection or logical dependency (such as data or information) or a configuration linkage.
- Responsible for monitoring the progress of interface resolution;
- Perform cross-discipline reviews, as required, ensuring any gaps, amendments, changes or other are captured and properly followed up in the interface documentation;
- Responsible for organising interface meetings with Others;
- Responsible for supporting others within the team in regard to interfacing with Others;
- Responsible for managing and maintaining Interface Control Document (ICD) including identification/assessment/development/closure of interfaces
- Responsible for ensuring any assumption and departures required as part of the interface management are formally raised and approved by HS2.
- To manage instructed change by HS2 where interfaces are impacted.
- Identifying and reporting interface related risks as necessary;
- Input and support to all engineering, construction, T+C and handover functions as required related to interfaces.
- Managing all external design interfaces and coordinating the MEP components with inter and intra-interfaces;
- Track the progress of documentation in relation to the interfacing process and facilitate regular reviews;
- Ensure that relevant design management plans and assurance plans are adhered to, within area of responsibility;
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost saving initiatives through the interfacing Process with Others;
- Ensure that the team personnel receive or have access to copies of the relevant Interfacing Documents as well as to ensure everyone is kept informed of relevant developments and issues;
- Internal liaison with the Construction Team, QA team and Cost Control.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
- Experience working for a contractor on a major infrastructure project
- Middle management experience within M+E/Rail Systems on large construction contracts
- Proactive in resolving problems and project result oriented
- Excellent scheduling, organizing and progress control. Ability to prioritise work in a high-pressure environment
- Enthusiastic team player, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Desirable:
- On site experience of the delivery of M+E/Rail systems
- Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.
- Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management

Qualifications
Essential:
- Degree level, or equivalent HND and experience, in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering (or related subject)
- Relevant CSCS Card
- Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management
Desirable:
- Computer competence (Primavera software, Synchro).
