Role Overview
This role will focus on activating Ashurst's sustainability market strategy and sustainability focused integrated solutions.
Sustainability strategy
To be a true business partner to our clients, we need to deeply understand the impact of the trends and issues that shape how businesses thrive in their industries - we do this by looking at their world through 4 macro level 'megatrends'. This role will have a focus on one of those Megatrends; Sustainability & Energy Transition and will work closely with the SustainabilitySteer-Co to drive the Sustainability market strategy globally.
In bringing to the firm, (and further developing) a deep understanding of how Sustainability & Energy Transition impacts Ashurst's clients, this role will also act as subject matter expert to guide, support and engage key stakeholders and clients in furthering key efforts to drive this agenda.

The successful candidate will work closely with client facing teams, CMG and Marketing
teams to develop integrated value propositions and sales pursuits, and design
campaign strategies to generate leads that broaden our client footprint, deliver more
revenue around specific client issues, and scale firmwide growth across Sustainability & Energy Transition.
A unique opportunity to deliver strategy through to execution
This role brings together the insights of a subject matter expert with practical market strategy development and BDexecution experience.
This is a hands-on role, requiring experienced BD practitioners to lead value proposition development, market strategy, campaign development and delivery of sustainability focused integrated solutions.
This role is at manager level and reports to the Global Head of Integrated Solutions
based in Melbourne, Australia.
Main Responsibilites
The successful candidate will take a lead position in developing Ashurst's sustainability market strategy and its delivery, together with the Sustainability Market Leader and Steer-Co. The successful candidate will also drive our firm's sustainability integrated solutions concepts.
As such, this role is expected to:
- Identify, develop and collaborate on global Sustainability & Energy transition opportunities to drive growth, including: Develop and challenge our sustainability value proposition to clients across Ashurst, clients, and wider market stakeholders.
- Develop and deliver to market a portfolio of qualified sustainability related integrated solutions by leveraging insights from multiple sources (market and competitor research, client listening, global trends, pipeline and financial data).
- Advise industry and practice areas on sustainability client strategies, pursuit opportunities and prioritisation of activities to drive growth.
- Work collaboratively with CMG, PR, Marketing, Comms, and Digital teams to develop and co-deliver integrated campaigns on our portfolio of Integrated Solutions.
Curate and deliver Sustainability & Energy Transition insights to grow depth of stakeholder knowledge about new developments in the market and identify opportunities for the firm through activities such as:
- Develop and maintain sustainability related client and market forums at firmwide level.
- Collaborate with Industry & Regional CMG colleagues to develop and share sustainability & energy transition insights to grow depth of stakeholder knowledge.
Nurture Ashurst's sustainability market positioning by working closely with Industry BD and BMC to develop a sustainability related publication strategy, and delivery of high-quality market-facing insights:
- Prepare and publish Greenwatch and other sustainability related brand assets.
- Prepare sustainability related Directory and Award submissions and prioritise which directories and awards the firm submits to.
- Maintain sustainability related credential and proposal client sales content, and ownership of their quality and upkeep.
Together with BMC, develop Ashurst's market strategy for COP, Davos, Paris Agreement and other influentialESG related global events.
From an integrated solutions specific perspective, we expect the successful candidate to work with subject matter experts across the global network of the firm to develop sustainability focused integrated solution concepts and drive them into the market.
This involves working alongside Solution Leaders (responsible Partners) and the Global Head of Integrated Solutions to:
- Build the business case (go/no go etc.).
- Define and refine the value proposition.
- Develop the solution sales assets (bids, presentations, placemats, etc.).
- Identify and qualify market opportunities for pursuit.
- Test with clients and key stakeholders.
- Segment target markets.
- Build market campaigns (alongside our Marketing team).
- Drive sales campaigns to deliver revenue for the firm.

- Strong written communication and ability to synthesize complex ideas into simplified, client-centric language.

- Natural "galvaniser" with strong influencing skills across a diverse and senior stakeholder group.
- Strong understanding of campaign economics, including budget creation and management.
