We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Financial Compliance Team as an Insurance Manager.
Your role:
Responsible to the Finance Compliance Manager, we are looking for an exceptional professional to be responsible for the operational management of the Insurance team. To ensure the Council maintains adequate insurance cover, that all insurance related administration is complete reducing insurable risk, to oversee the maintenance of the Council's claim database and to provide advice and support to departments regarding the suitability of insurance policies held by third party suppliers and contractors, overall protecting the Council's assets and exposure to liabilities.
In collaboration with colleagues, you will ensure that the whole service is delivered in a professional manner in accordance with relevant statutory requirements and policies. Strategically, you'll develop, review, and improve strategies, policies and/or procedures that reflect changing external and internal requirements and regulations. Contribute to the development of corporate best practice on securing economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the use of resources.
The post holder will lead on the Council's insurance negotiations and examine policy documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy, implementing changes to suit the authorises changing needs and requirements. You will maintain relationships with the Council's insurance providers, keeping abreast of current market trends, new developments, and best practice.
In addition, undertake other duties as may be required from time to time as requested by the Chief Finance Officer or Deputy Chief Finance Officer to protect the Council's financial interest.

What you will need:
We are looking for someone who seeks continuous improvement with service delivery, is highly organised and pays attention to detail. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as you will work closely with operational and back-office services within the Council and external partners, to support the delivery of the Council's corporate projects and initiatives.
You will be an AAT or equivalent insurance qualified professional seeking a role in a progressive, forward-thinking organisation which offers the opportunity to demonstrate key achievements to date, further develop your skills and lead on the delivery of a successful Finance function. The desirable candidate will have both personal and commercial insurance experience.
