Overview of the role

We are looking for a curious and capable individual to join a small team of insight professionals in support of Carat's strategy department. Are you interested in people and why they make the decisions they take? Do you find yourself listening into conversations happening around you? Are you someone who thrives on telling a brilliant story, bringing all the characters to life? Are you analytical, finding patterns in seemingly unconnected events or experiences or do you have a head for figures, easily finding meaning or communicating through graphs? Are you good at making the complex simple? The role is centred around building understanding of consumers and their behaviour for our clients. We also work to understand our clients' businesses and the forces at play in the wider contexts that they operate in. Working together with media strategists, we work to break down complex challenges and arrive at answers based on understanding. This role offers opportunity to work closely with and learn from thought leaders within the media world. Successful candidate will gain grounding in understanding of media and marketing through working on some of the world's biggest and most exciting brands, including Heinz, Kellanova, Lionsgate, Ferrero, Co-op, Molson Coors, Direct Line, Microsoft and many more.

Qualifications + Skills

  • Curious, diligent, detail oriented nature
  • Compassionate people person
  • Ability to analyse data and find trends or insights
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly with stakeholders
  • Comfortable with excel and powerpoint
  • Previous experience of 3rd party audience tools such as YouGov or TGI desirable
  • Ability to juggle projects and work to deadlines
  • Some experience of either media or consumer research or study of a relevant field
  • Professional approach to work and strong communicator

Key Responsibilities

  • Learning to deliver target audience recommendations and strategies
  • Supporting strategists in data gathering and story telling
  • Desk research - exploring insight resources available to understand consumer trends and marketplaces
  • Data exploration and presentation
  • Willingness to share thoughts and ideas with regards to brief
  • Presenting to clients
  • Occasional Primary research - quant and qualitative
  • Supporting team members in administrative tasks e.g. co-ordinating meetings etc
  • Leading on adoption of insight tools / resources (e.g. crosstabbing, proprietary panel data, 3rd party resources such as Mintel, Nielsen Suite, WARC etc) and championing their use amongst wider agency
