Candidate Specification

Candidates will need a minimum of 5 GCSE passes (grade 4 or C or equivalent) including a Maths and English. Subjects in IT are also beneficial.

Candidates with further education (A Levels, BTEC) may also apply, those with a focus on IT are beneficial.

Job Description

Working as an apprentice IT Analyst in Operations you will learn to resolve IT issues across all operational areas. Speedy and intelligent resolution of IT incidents is the key to ensuring that Mott MacDonald can deliver on its promises to its clients.

An apprenticeship is a paid job where you will learn and gain valuable on the job experience, whilst also completing classroom-based learning with a college, university or training provider which leads to a nationally recognised qualification.

The apprenticeship will typically be undertaken over 24 - 30 months, and during this time you will be provided with real life experience working on a variety of projects and upon completion will have fully satisfied the requirements for successful completion of the Level 4 Information Manager Apprenticeship Standard.

Job description

  • Service Desk
  • Provide a single point of contact for our employees and confidence that we are actively addressing their IT issues.
  • Deliver an outstanding customer experience by focussing on our employees needs and providing timely resolutions with clear and regular communication.
  • Desktop Services
  • Provide support for employees their hardware, software and peripherals.
  • Understand the critical needs of the business and escalate urgent issues to minimise the impact to the business and employee productivity.
  • Infrastructure and Security
  • Provide support to Compute and Storage infrastructure services to resolve incidents, problems and assist with implementing change.
  • Perform day-to-day activities and checks as part of the on-going maintenance of the assigned services. Ensure that they are carried out in a timely manner and a forward schedule of maintenance and upgrade is implemented.
  • Undertaking cyber incident response, analysis, and remediation activities
  • Applications
  • Provide support to the Business Applications team, including but not limited to components of the Deltek ERP suite.
  • Provide support to Project Applications team for Engineering Applications
  • Provide support to Productivity Applications team to resolve incidents, problems and assist with implementing change.
  • Play a key role to support the digital delivery of major infrastructure projects, using both our internal and emerging digital tools to drive continuous improvements
  • Develop, maintain, and optimise information-based systems, this might be database focused or other leading-edge solutions
  • Help our engineers and delivery teams to manage, store and communicate this information more effectively
  • Work alongside project managers and engineers to collect data, build data visualisations and apply analytics to provide insights to help inform decisions.
  • Train people on our state-of-the-art digital tools. This could include supporting the assessment or setup of new tools under the direction of our Information Managers
  • We solve new problems each day, you will be part of our diverse team working across many different projects helping us to share our knowledge, so we solve similar problems quickly.

You will be supported in learning the skills required to be successful in this role and would not be expected to demonstrate all the above from day 1.

Travelling within the working day may be required occasionally, which will be on top of any travel required as part of your apprenticeship studies.

Job Profile

TPN help conceive, drive and implement transport solutions for cities, regions and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and advising on related issues - such as revenue, procurement and environmental legislation - to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle.

We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy. We collaborate across EUNA through the EUNA Transport Sector Board and globally through the Transport Sector Board and Transport Focus Committee. A significant number of Global Practice Leaders and Key Account Leaders also have senior roles in our Unit.

Outside of the transport sector, we also play leading roles in complex multi-disciplinary major civil engineering projects e.g. water and power tunnels and provide speciality advisory services in diverse areas that include technology applications and socio-economics.

Comprising of four divisions Highways and Intelligent Transport Systems, Integrated Transport, Metros and Civil, Railways and operating in Brazil and Spain, the Unit covers many technical disciplines including those listed below.
