Hygiene Manager

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and drive standards of Hygiene, Health and Safety and Technical requirements to ensure that the business is audit ready at all times.
- Manage departmental actions on a daily basis.
- Work alongside the HSE Manager in the Management of COSHH.
- Assist the Engineering Department in the hygienic design of existing and new equipment.
- Lead root cause analysis sessions and investigations as and when required.
- Take ownership for Hygiene based contractor control.
- Ensure the Hygiene policies and procedures meet current legislation and guidance, whilst also meeting customer expectation.
- Educate the team regarding cleaning procedures and standards.
- Manage the team and ensuring tasks are delegated equally across all shifts. Providing clear and detailed instructions and guidance.
- Identify any skill shortages through competency testing and carrying out training as and when required.
- Ensure all documentation and forms are current and relevant.
- Represent the Hygiene Department in external audits and client visits.
- Undertake internal audits across multiple departments.
- Maintain the hygiene database in conjunction with documentation for all cleaning practices.
- Manage departmental spending in relation to labour costs, equipment and consumables.
- Review and maintain environmental monitoring schedule and risk assessments.
- Perform weekly analysis on micro results and implement preventative actions where required.
- Complete cleaning validations on a regular basis, in line with company policies and procedures, and customer expectations.
- Provide representation for the Hygiene Team in both the HACCP and Food Defence Team.
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate must have:
- Previous experience managing a team within a Hygiene Department in a chilled food industry.
- Previous experience of working within a compliance and standards driven environment - British Retail Consortium (BRC), ISO14001 Environmental Management.
- Knowledge of hygiene legislation.
- High levels of attention to detail
- Food Safety Level 3
- IOSH
- HACCP Level 3
- COSHH trained
- Experience in hygienic design.
- Listeria Management Experience/Qualification.

Working Hours:
- 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, one weekend day per week either Saturday or Sunday.
- Shift cover expected where required (weekend and nights). Potential to move to permanent Night shift to be confirmed.
