Job Title: Health, Safety & Environmental Manager
Location: East Midlands (With Occasional Travel Outside Of This Region)
Sector: Water/Manufacturing
The position is responsible for leading health, safety and environmental governance across Galliford Try's Water Technologies business unit (part of the Environment division). This currently extends to 6 UK-based operational facilities as well as UK site-based installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
The Health, Safety & Environmental Manager is a critical role in driving improvement and consistency in performance, compliance with management systems, and continual improvement initiatives. As part of a matrix management structure, the role is accountable to the Environment Regional HS&E Manager (line manager) alongside a functional reporting line to the Water Technologies Operations Director. You will have opportunity to influence the overall HS&E strategy for our Environment business and the wider group.
Key Accountabilities
- Foster and support an inclusive, open, transparent, and collaborative environment to develop our HS&E culture, maturity, and behaviours to deliver HS&E excellence.
- Lead, manage, assure, and report our HS&E strategy and performance to drive continual improvement addressing short-, medium-, and long-term strategic growth and learning. This will be achieved through attendance at the Water Technologies Leadership Team meetings, collaboration with others in the business and in the wider Environment Division, and other key stakeholders.
- Proactively drive and promote our behavioural programme; 'Challenging Beliefs, Affecting Behaviours', through site visits and strategic planning meetings.
- Participates, advises, and assures on health and safety-based registers (including PA Testing; Calibration; LOLER; Fire Alarm Testing; Emergency Lighting Testing; Legionella; Ladder and Platform Inspections; Pre-Machinery Checklists; HAVS; First Aiders; Fire Marshalls; COSHH; RIDDOR; and Equipment and Plant Inspections).
Summary:
This role would be perfect for anyone with a relevant background in HS&E management at a senior level. We need someone with can do attitude who is confident in their own ability. The location of the role is flexible, but you will be required to travel UK wide between offices and sites.
