About the role
Reporting to: Head of HR
Job type: Permanent
Salary: Up to £55,000
Working Pattern & Hours: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week
Location: This role is primarily office based, with the option to work from home one day per week based in our office in Lancashire, WN8.
Key Responsibilities
As HR Manager, you will lead all aspects of HR, acting as a trusted advisor to leaders while supporting managers and employees and driving engagement through compliant people processes. The key duties you will be responsible for are listed below:
• Identify opportunities to automate and streamline HR processes
• Provide clear, consistent HR guidance aligned with organisational goals
• Lead, coach, and develop the HR team
• Drive engagement initiatives and support culture-building activities
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture
• Deliver hands-on HR operations, including contracts, letters, systems updates, and documentation
• Lead and advise on ER cases including disciplinary, grievance, performance, and absence
• Coach managers to handle early-stage issues confidently and consistently
• Own HR policies, procedures, ensuring they are up to date, compliant, and embedded
• Maintain accurate HR records, reporting, and audit trails
• Oversee onboarding, offboarding, and contractual documentation
• Support Recruitment Manager with job design, interviews, and selection
• Monitor turnover, absence, and workforce trends to inform decision-making
• Support managers with performance management, probation reviews, and development plans
• Oversee training needs analysis and annual training plans
• Support the delivery of management development programmes
• Ensure compliance with mandatory training across the organisation
• Track and report on training effectiveness
• Manage the PeopleHR system for accuracy, workflows, and reporting
• Produce monthly HR dashboards (turnover, absence, ER activity).
About You
You'll be a highly organised and detail driven HR professional, with the confidence to make sound, risk aware decisions. Approachable and empathetic, you'll be a trusted partner to employees at all levels and a strong communicator who can influence senior stakeholders. Comfortable in a fast paced, regulated environment, you'll be hands on, proactive, and happy to get involved in day to day HR delivery.
Qualifications & Experience
As HR Manager at Chemist4U, you will lead and develop a team of three, so proven people management experience is essential. This role will suit a hands on HR leader who enjoys being visible across the business, supporting leaders and teams with practical and balanced advice. You'll be comfortable working at pace in a regulated environment, building trust, coaching managers, and helping to create a positive and inclusive employee experience. You'll also be confident managing complex ER cases end to end and hold CIPD Level 5+ (or equivalent experience), with excellent knowledge of UK employment law and ACAS guidance.
