Overview

We are looking for a HR (People) Manager to join our HR community and lead the People team for one of our Corby based shared user site, The WEB. Reporting to the People Partner, you will have a strong generalist HR focus and experience in empowering and developing managers with their HR skills and knowledge.

This role will suit a HR (People) Manager with experience working in a fast paced and ever changing environment, who is happy to spend time in the warehouse, taking to and supporting our colleagues and managers day to day.

During peak period the role is onsite 5 days a week. After then the role is 4 days onsite and 1 homebased.

Hours are Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00, but can also consider 08:00 to 16:00 or 08:30 to 16:30.

How you will contribute?

  • Take responsibility for providing advice and generalist HR support across the contracts on site.
  • Ability to work in a project environment.
  • Aptitude for working in a fast paced, quickly changing and pressured environment.
  • Leading on high volume warehouse recruitment on site and ensuring all recruitment is in line with internal policies and legislation.
  • Develop effective on-going relationships at all levels establishing yourself as a credible, respected and valued manager, responding to queries directly and influencing managers to follow a best practice approach.
  • Assist departmental managers on the interpretation of company policies and procedures.
  • Support in delivering the People plan for the year.
  • Lead and Develop the People Team which consists of two People Advisors and a People Assistant.
  • Prepare statistical breakdowns including analysis of sickness/absence and holidays.
  • Assist in disciplinary / grievance hearings, advising on legislative and company policy and procedures.
  • Assist in training and developing managers in people related matters, ensuring processes are followed and legislation is met.
  • Influencing internal stakeholders regarding the above and holding them to account.
  • Contribute towards the improvement of processes and methods of operating practices within the sites.
  • Assist in the coaching, mentoring and development of the management team.
  • Assist with annual pay review/pay claims.

What will you bring?

  • Proven HR experience in similar role.
  • Experience of managing change processes - for example, relocation, redundancy, TUPE.
  • Experience of Managing an Advisory People Team
  • Experience in employee engagement and experience.
  • Skilled in providing pragmatic, tailored HR advice.
  • Ability to work proactively and independently
  • Experience of supporting managers with complex employee relations issues.
  • CIPD Level 5 qualified or qualified by experience is desirable but not essential - your experience in a similar role is the most important.
  • Competent knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Must have excellent organisational skills and initiative, with the ability to manage the day-to-day HR processes effectively.
  • Excellent IT skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint are a prerequisite.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Passionate about developing and supporting colleagues to fulfil their potential.
  • Pragmatic, resilient and a self-starter.
  • Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build relationships quickly.
