We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HR Advisory Manager to join our dynamic team. The HR Advisory Team provide a Tier 2 level advisory support to employees and the business on a wide range of employee relations matters such as performance management, informal grievances and conduct matters. The team works closely with a wide range SME colleagues from the internal HR community to deliver a coordinated service to the business

The role encompasses a variety of responsibilities including:

Subject Matter Expertise & Case Management:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to HR, business stakeholders, and employees on all aspects of employee relations and case management.
  • Oversee the application of best-practice case management techniques, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Manage highly complex and sensitive cases through to resolution when required.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of HR Advisors (up to 10), providing guidance, support, and escalation point for case-related matters.
  • Drive team performance, ensuring effective resource allocation, adherence to service level expectations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Actively participate in recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training and development of team members.
  • Review the team Service Level Expectations (SLE). Measure achievement against SLEs and implement improvement activities where necessary

Continuous Improvement & Process Optimisation:

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and leverage technology (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping of all ER matters.
  • Ensure the effective root cause analysis of case-related complaints and develop lessons learnt with Assistant Managers & Advisors

Strategic Partnership & Collaboration:

  • Partner closely with the Head of HR Advisory to provide strategic input, recommendations, and direction for the team and function.
  • Collaborate effectively with HR colleagues, People Leaders, and business stakeholders to provide seamless support and drive positive ER outcomes.

Connect to your skills and professional experience

  • Possesses a comprehensive knowledge and practical application of UK Employment Legislation. Experience providing counsel and support to business on policy interpretation, risk mitigation, and legal compliance.
  • Proven ability to manage complex Employee Relations cases from initiation to resolution, including performance, conduct, and dismissal.
  • Experience in leading and managing a geographically dispersed HR team, with the skill to foster collaboration, and drive results.
  • Able to demonstrate commercial awareness & risk management which includes an understanding of the current environment within which we operate and an ability to adapt recommendations or advice as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative, identifies improvement opportunities, and applies a lessons-learned approach to case management.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, adept at building relationships, influencing senior stakeholders, and instilling confidence.
  • Actively seeks to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and support change initiatives within HR and the wider organisation.
  • Strong analytical skills, with commitment to data integrity, and proficiency in HR systems (ideally SAP and ServiceNow) and Microsoft Office suite.
