The service you will work in....
The Housing Services Department at Hestia is a team who are dedicated in supporting service users with complex needs within Hestia's accommodation services. Each Housing officer has a small patch of 50-140 units within a defined geographical area. This manageable patch size allows us to deliver personalised support and effectively meeting the needs of our service users.
A day in this role looks like....
As a Housing Services Manager at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Housing Services . Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.
A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:
- To support the Head of Housing Services county court possession and small claims actions.
- Write county court witness statements and other court required administration.
- Communicate with the project-based staff about any Housing benefit, ASB/Tenancy breaches or service user payment discrepancies.
- Review and manage the rent data systems to ensure that service users rent/charges collection is received and allocated correctly.
- Carry out meeting with project managers reviewing rent accounts/revenue benefit/Tenancy /licence breach maters.
- Under the direction of the Head of Housing Services, liaise with partner Registered Providers, ensuring adherence to Management Agreements.
- Management of service users' agreement breaches.
- Working with the Rents team to ensure new service users have their rent accounts established.
- Work with local authorities to ensure all Housing Benefit payments are received and submit any appeals and complaints.
- Undertaking any necessary legal action, including leading on the pre action protocol.
- Providing weekly/monthly/quarterly performance reports.
- Working in partnership with support workers, Local Authorities and Housing Management Officers.
- Develop supportive and positive relationships with service users and colleagues.
- Line manage staff whilst ensuring they are trained, supported, and developed.

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:
- An in-depth understanding of all aspects of housing management.
- Line management responsibilities for Housing Management Officers.
- DWP, revenue and benefits legislation knowledge.
- Rent collection and arrears recovery management, plus an understanding of the pre action protocol.
- A basic understanding of the housing act.
- An understanding of action to take for ASB/Housing Management tenancy/licence breaches.
- Computer literate with the ability to use electronic IT recording systems to accurately record data.
- A basic understanding of the practice directions 55.
- Service Charge/rent income management.
- A strong sense of accountability.
- A high standard of written and spoken English.
- An ability to lone work and self-manage.
- Numerate with the ability to analyse and present financial data to a range of audiences.
- Strong IT skills / Excel / Outlook / Word.
- Ability to achieve objective through working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to work sensitively with service users.
- Knowledge and understanding of mental health, issues faced by domestic abuse, drug and alcohol dependency and young person's support.
