Position

We are looking for a Housekeeping Manager to lead our housekeeping team across Henshaws College and our Arts and Crafts Centre in Knaresborough. This role is ideal for someone with experience in leading cleaning or housekeeping teams and who takes pride in maintaining high standards that ensure safe and welcoming environments for students, service users and colleagues. You will plan and oversee the daily operation of the service, manage quality standards and support your team to deliver excellent results.

Your work will directly support Henshaws mission by ensuring our learning and creative environments are clean, safe and well maintained for the people who rely on them every day.

  • Salary: £15.37 per hour or £30,371.12 per annum
  • Hours per week: 38
  • Weeks per year: 52
  • Annual leave: 5 weeks plus 10 days bank holiday
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Location: Henshaws College with regular travel to the Arts and Crafts Centre in Knaresborough
  • Closing Date: 4 March 2026 at 12 noon

Requirements

We welcome applications from people who can demonstrate the key skills and experience needed for this role.

You will need experience of leading a housekeeping or cleaning team, including planning rotas, monitoring standards and supporting staff development. You should have a good understanding of hygiene, cleanliness, health and safety and infection control, including COSHH. Experience of working to frameworks such as CQC or National Cleaning Standards is essential.

A Level 5 management qualification is desirable, or you should be willing to work towards this. You will need strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and the confidence to manage performance, workloads and expectations. Experience of managing budgets and good IT skills would be helpful.

This role involves regular travel between sites and requires a flexible approach to meet the needs of the organisation. An enhanced DBS check with the relevant barring lists is required for this position.
