High Performance Materials Engineer

Capgemini Engineering is recruiting an Aerospace Metallic Materials Engineer to join the existing Materials and Process Team. The role will support operations and activities around existing and new technologies in aerospace applications.

Your Role

Working directly on-site or remotely with the customer, you will take a key role in delivering Capgemini Engineering and customer projects. The candidate will be expected to utilise engineering principals and knowledge to support a wider range of topics - with an emphasis on, but not limited to, carbon fibre primary structure applications in conjunction with aerospace metallic materials and manufacturing principals.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and providing materials design guidance from first principals, covering predominantly:

o Composite materials /Reinforced Plastic

• In addition to:

o Adhesive bonding

o Mechanical fastening

o Aerospace primary and secondary structure applications

• Support material selection and certification activities.

o Defining, planning and executing test campaigns in support of the above.

o Create and maintain material compatibility and surface protection practices and manuals.

• Develop Material and Process Specifications to ensure materials meet required performance, quality, and compliance standards for production.

• Manage and generate relevant documentation for the Technical Qualification of materials.

• Generate Manufacturing Engineering process instructions (Assembly principals, Sealant and anti-corrosion, Process validation)

Your Profile

Qualifications:

• Degree or equivalent experience in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other relevant fields with specialization in composites.

Experience:

• Experience in aerospace engineering with a focus on composite materials is desirable.

• Experience in managing and generating documentation for material qualification and certification procedures.

• Experience in developing and implementing manufacturing process specifications and material specifications.

• High competence in at least one of the above technical areas, with demonstrable ability across the remaining areas desirable.

Relevant Skills:

• Strong knowledge of materials science, including composite materials, material compatibility, surface protection practices, and material qualification processes.

• Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage Jira boards and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with the core team and external stakeholders.

• Attention to detail and the ability to generate precise and comprehensive documentation.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

• Flexibility to adapt to changing project needs and priorities.
