We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and results-oriented Hedging & Pricing Manager to join our Energy Optimisation team. This critical role will lead the development and execution of Good Energy's hedging strategies, ensuring optimal financial outcomes across all energy trading and cost forecasting activities. You will play a pivotal role in delivering the company's gross margin by collaborating closely with Commercial teams and managing the intricate interplay of supply, demand, and wholesale market dynamics.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Hedging & Pricing team, ensuring team performance and adherence to Good Energy's culture.
- Manage all hedging and cost forecasting activities, including portfolio management, risk management, and the non-commodity cost stack.
- Collaborate with Commercial teams to ensure new contracts are appropriately managed and risks are mitigated.
- Analyse data, develop and implement hedging strategies, and conduct market analysis.
- Manage stakeholder relationships and present findings to senior leadership.
- Lead team development, including mentoring and performance management.
- Drive continuous improvement by developing and implementing new strategies and challenging the status quo.
What you'll need to succeed
We're seeking an exceptional individual with a proven track record in energy trading/hedging and/or cost forecasting. You'll possess a deep understanding of the wholesale energy market, including its associated costs and risks. A keen problem-solver by nature, you'll thrive in the dynamic environment of contracting and counterparty management. Initiative-driven and a strong leader, you'll possess the ability to think both logically and laterally, fostering a high-performing team.
Essentials:
- Proven track record in energy trading/hedging or cost forecasting with a deep understanding of the wholesale energy market.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven leadership and team management experience, with a focus on coaching and developing talent.
- Strong commercial acumen and a results-oriented approach.
Desirables:
- Experience in the renewables industry, particularly with renewable generation technologies.
- Knowledge of relevant energy regulations and compliance requirements.
- Programming ability (VBA, SQL, Python etc.)
- Experience of forecasting costs and the associated risks.
