Weare looking to recruit a Head of Year to join us at Moseley. We are looking fora new team member with the passion and enthusiasm to make a positive impact onthe young people at our school. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Year. The ideal candidate will already possess the knowledge and experience to make this role successful and be able to providethe best supportfor our students.

Core Purpose:
Leadthe year team of staff and students to inspire a culture of succeeding together,securing excellent progress and outcomes for all students in the year group.
Specific responsibilities of this role:
- Build strong and lasting positiverelationships with students in the year group
- To know the children well and ensuretheir individual needs are met
- Promote positive daily strategies and actionsfor the highest standards of student behaviour, attitudes and conduct in linewith our 'Clear, Firm and Fair' framework
- Promote school culture based on ourcore values: 3 R's and RAISE
- Establisha learning culture for students with high expectations for attendance,punctuality, behaviour, and performance
- Contribute to the improvement of teaching andlearning, particularly through the development of positive classroomrelationships and the use of praise and recognition
- Build a strong school ethos among students,their families, and tutors in the year group
- Maintain excellent communication andrelationships with families
- Leadership and management of the PastoralManager and form tutors, including the use of Quality Assurance procedures toensure high quality and consistency of provision
- Use data to analyse and monitor theprogress of students in the year group and plan support to overcome anybarriers to learning and underachievement if across multiple subject areas, incollaboration with the relevant Heads of Faculty
- Work collaboratively with other members of thePastoral Team to ensure co-ordinated planning, management, and evaluation ofall aspects of achievement and behaviour, including attending regular Head ofYear Team meetings.
- Tracking and implementing proactive strategies to improve attendance andpunctuality across the year group.
- Use data to monitor and analysestandards within the year group including attendance, punctuality, and studentconduct.
- Support with the running of daily wholeschool detentions.
- Ensure the effective delivery of thepastoral curriculum during tutor and assembly time.
- Monitorstudents' progress in terms of personal development and instigate measures toaddress any identified concerns.
- Take primary responsibility fororganising and leading year group assemblies.
- Establish an inspirational learningethos among students in the year group.
- Assist with eventsrelating to the year group e.g., progress evenings.
- Ensure effective communication withinthe year team including the effective deployment of student leaders.
- Lead Year Team briefing sessions andcontribute to whole school training as appropriate.
- Participate, as necessary, inarrangements of the appraisal of staff performance.
- Monitor staff welfare and hold return towork meetings.
- Monitor that staff comply with schoolpolicies and procedures and provide support and challenge as required.
- Follow Pastoral reporting systems,referral processes and liaising with AHT Behaviour, Culture and Ethos and DHTStandards and Welfare.
- Plus,any additional duties as directed by the Headteacher.
