About this Role
MaidenErlegh School of Reading (MER) is seeking to appoint a committed and highlyeffective Head of Year to provide strong pastoral leadership and ensureexcellent outcomes for students across an allocated year group.
This is akey middle leadership role, combining high expectations with a positive,solution-focused approach. You will lead the pastoral team, support highstandards of behaviour, attendance and wellbeing, and ensure all students aresupported to achieve their full potential. You will also contribute to thedelivery and quality assurance of the Personal Development curriculum and tutorprogramme, working closely with colleagues, families and external partners tosecure strong outcomes for all.
KeyResponsibilities
• -Lead and manage the pastoral provision for a designated year group, ensuring consistency and high standards
• -Deliver and quality assure the Personal Development curriculum, including tutor time and assemblies
• -Monitor student progress, behaviour, attendance and wellbeing, using data to inform targeted interventions
• -Line manage and support the tutor team, including performance management and professional development
• -Work proactively with families and external agencies to support student engagement, safety and inclusion
• -Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed rigorously and concerns are acted upon promptly
• -Contribute to whole-school priorities, maintaining a positive, inclusive and aspirational culture
• -Support transition processes and key events, including parents' evenings and year group activities
TheIdeal Candidate
• -QualifiedTeacher Status with successful teaching experience
• -Provenability to secure strong outcomes for students through effective teaching andpastoral leadership
• -Strongbehaviour management skills and the ability to model high expectations
• -Experienceof using data to monitor performance and drive improvement
• -Abilityto build positive, professional relationships with students, colleagues andfamilies
• -Commitmentto inclusion and supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged students
• -Strongorganisational skills and the ability to manage competing prioritieseffectively
