As Head of Year, you will play apivotal leadership role in shaping the experience, culture and outcomes of youryear group. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and pastoral andacademic colleagues, you will lead on raising standards of behaviour, attendance,attitudes to learning and academic progress for all scholars within the yeargroup.

You will be a highly visible andrespected leader, fostering a scholarly culture grounded in high expectations,strong relationships and consistent systems. Through data-informed decision-making,proactive intervention and strong partnerships with staff, parents and externalagencies, you will ensure every scholar is supported to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the analysis of attainment, progress, ATL and attendance data, implementing targeted actions to secure strong outcomes for all scholars
• Provide professional leadership for the year group, role-modelling Astrea values and maintaining consistently high expectations
• Work closely with the Pastoral Support Officer and wider teams (DSL, SENCO, HoDs and teachers) to deliver effective pastoral, academic and safeguarding support
• Challenge and support staff to ensure high-quality teaching, consistency and a graduated response to intervention
• Identify and oversee interventions for underperforming or vulnerable scholars, including mentoring and additional provision
• Plan and lead year-group meetings, scholar review events and daily morning meetings
• Maintain strong partnerships with parents/carers to support scholars' progress, attendance and wellbeing
• Report on year-group performance to senior leaders and contribute to rewards, celebration and transition processes

Accountable for:

• Academic progress and attainment of all scholars within the year group, including closing gaps and improving outcomes
• Attendance, behaviour and attitudes to learning, ensuring high standards and consistent application of academy policies
• Pastoral care, safeguarding and wellbeing of scholars, including effective identification and support of vulnerable students
• Leadership and impact of the year team, ensuring staff work collaboratively to deliver the academy vision and Astrea values

We have simplerules, centralised detentions, and we back ourteachers - so that our classrooms are disruption-free. Wedo this to support our children who want to work hard and do well.

A knowledge-rich curriculum,built on 'powerful knowledge', underpins our teaching and learning principles.We offer a traditional approach to teaching, following evidence-based researchby Rosenshine. Our pedagogy is influenced by Teach Like AChampion (TLAC). Stimulating lessons are delivered by teachers, who we backas the expert in the room.

In Autumn term 2024alone, children visited Cambridge University, The British Museum, The NationalGallery, RAF Hendon, Kenilworth Castle, and were on Channel 5 and BBC radio!!As well as this, every week KS3 children have the opportunity to take partin electives such as British sign language, clubbercise,building a robotic arm, chess, girls cricket, and many more!
