Head of Workplace Platforms

We are seeking an experienced Head of Workplace Platforms to join our Group Technology Team in Milton Keynes. You will oversee the Connells Group Network and Telephony Service's design, capacity, and configuration management. As Head of End User Compute, you will manage a team of EUC technical specialists, coordinate with third-party providers, mentor staff, and enhance processes to support business goals through effective EUC service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Line management of a number of direct reports within the team. Resource management across the team, ensuring that the relevant workload associated to the team (Design, Project delivery, Operational and Change) are delivered as agreed.
  • Act as the Subject Matter expertise around the EUC capability, using practices such as thought leadership to ensure Connells employees are enabled to work anywhere/anytime across our offices and to enable robust homeworking for employees.
  • Maintain the EUC solutions for all Connells users, managing critical downtime and risk of disruption.
  • To lead on ensuring an appropriate and robust response to applicable incidents, and to ensure root cause analysis and resolution occurs. In addition, ensuring an applicable out-of-hours support model in place as required for 24x7x365 operational running.
  • The role is accountable to ensure that relevant industry frameworks (e.g. ITIL) and design principles are established, creating levels of governance that ensure our EUC services are safe, secure and reliable.
  • Responsible for day-to-day contract management, specifically the long-term service contracts associated with networks and telephony and underlying technologies supported.
  • Deputise for the Group Infrastructure Director as required.

Team Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Owns the EUC build and patching process - including VDI/DaaS, SCCM and InTune configuration and device management
  • Specifies hardware (desktop, laptop, mobile devices and thin client) standards
  • Works closely with other teams on desktop related design and support for projects
  • Act as 3rd / 4th line SME for all EUC tech
  • Day to Day Management of EUC technologies
  • Incident, Problem and Change
  • Support projects where appropriate
  • Daily Management of O365 Applications (e.g. , Outlook, Sway, SharePoint, Word etc)
  • Advisors on exploitation of the technologies in line with business needs

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Demonstrable Experience in similar relevant technical managerial roles or broad experience and proven success in an End User Compute modernisation and lifecycle management.
  • Strong experience of incident resolution, requests, changes and problem-solving activities delivered to agreed SLAs.
  • Extensive experience of implementing, managing and supporting solutions in a demanding environment
  • Knowledge of InTune, EUC device build and Windows 11
