Head of Technical Development

We are looking for a Head of Technical to lead our garment technology team and drive the technical strategy across the Hobbs brand. This opportunity is a permanent contract starting ASAP.

Reporting into the Product Director, the Head of Technical will be working collaboratively with the wider product teams to optimise efficiency, product quality and sustainability across all collections whilst delivering the high-quality standards we are renowned for at Hobbs.

Key accountabilities include;

• Ensuring exceptional fit and quality is maintained which exceeds that of our competitors - nurturing a team of specialist technologists and assistants across apparel, footwear and accessories
• Leading and executing the technical roadmap to ensure that the product approval sealing is in line with the business-critical path management
• Providing strategic leadership and direction to the technical team, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence in product construction, fit and performance
• Building close working relationships with suppliers globally to leverage expertise, responsible for the supplier data base, supplier on-boarding and exiting and ethical management
• Seasonal review of processes and lessons learnt - actively evaluating all technical quality, fit, make, returns, labelling, factory, sustainable and process aspects of the Hobbs brand

About You

This is an all-encompassing role which will see you lead and shape the future of the technical team here at Hobbs. The ideal candidate for the Head of Technical opportunity will be an experienced Senior Technical Manager and/or Head of Technical who will bring technical strength and expertise to our seasonal collections. We would need you to demonstrate proven team management experience, managing effectively through a team of direct reports. Strong technical expertise in garment, footwear and accessories construction, fit and quality assurance with a focus on sustainability is required. Polished presentation skills and professional gravitas is crucial for success is this role, as is a collaborative and positive approach.
