Role Description The purpose of this role is to deliver a high performing central tax function for the Allianz UK Group. This involves providing tax expertise specific to the needs of the business and being responsible for providing comprehensive and highly skilled tax compliance, advisory and planning services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Arranges and manages the Allianz UK Group's tax affairs, both direct and indirect, in the most efficient manner, taking into account both local and international dimensions and liaison on global tax strategy.
  • Ensures the tax compliance responsibilities of the UK Group are met, by both submitting tax returns and agreeing tax liabilities within statutory deadlines, proactively managing any tax audits that arise and fulfilling Allianz SE tax reporting requirements.
  • Implements and maintains best practice in respect of tax risk management.
  • Advises on all tax matters and considers where appropriate the implementation of tax planning initiatives in line with the Group's commercial needs and strategy to mitigate tax exposures where possible.
  • Maintains awareness of, and advises the business on, changes in tax law and practice including assisting with the implementation of system changes required.
  • Maintains the high profile of the tax team within the wider Allianz Group and builds and maintains good relationships with internal stakeholders, advisors and tax authorities.
  • Manages and develops other members of the tax team.

Essential Skills

  • IT literate including excellent Word and Excel skills.
  • Technically competent, maintaining business focus.
  • Self-motivated with excellent project and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Competent problem resolution, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail whilst maintaining the ability to see the big picture.
  • The ability to interpret and clearly explain indirect tax technical issues.
  • The ability to conduct and accurately interpret research on indirect tax technical matters.
  • Fully qualified ACA/CTA.
  • Experience of leading a team.
  • Proven experience of a wide range of UK tax matters.

Desirable Skills

  • Education level: A-level preferred.
  • Experience of working for large multinational enterprises, preferably within the financial services industry.
